Lovely welcome from the owner. He showed us to our room which was clean and plenty of toiletries and tea and coffee plus hot chocolate and biscuits,nice fluffy towels.
Breakfast was very nice a good choice of cereals, Breakfast was cooked to order nothing was too much trouble.
Will be back
We were back again to this lovely guest house, as b4 was too much trouble. Food as b4 freshly cooked to order and plenty of it.
Will always stay at the Clare Ellen when in Canterbury.

Ahmed was a gracious host. But my shower was in my need of a clean or a replacement. The carpets both on the stairs and in my room were odiferous and could do with a really good shampoo.

Breakfast is included; he is a great cook. He was accommodating in getting me yogurt. Got food poisoning and stayed away from the meats; could have been the nuts I consumed the day before.

On my departure day; my friends could not grab me until 1pm. But Ahmed had me out by 11; may have been better served staying somewhere that has the regular 12 check out instead

The entire place was tired and outdated. He is trying to sell the place; think it could be time.

If my travels were to take me back to Canterbury it is most unlikely that Clare Ellen Guest House would be my choice. He did give me a £15 discount after a 7 night stay (I was his only guest for the entire visit)

To compare to my next stay; they are giving me a 50% discount because my stay is also for a week , upgrading me to a bigger room and this was without asking. At Clare Ellen Guest House as his only guest; there was no upgrade in spite of the shower and the fact that my bathroom was in the hallway

My apologies Ahmed for not being able to give you a better review but you had 7 nights to fix the shower, move me and certainly not send me out with my luggage to make my way to a suitable coffee shop.

This is the second time I have stayed. Good location, just a short walk into Canterbury. Off street parking for free which is good for Canterbury. Pleasant, friendly owner. The house is clean and tidy, the room I had was light and had a good selection of teas and coffee. Breakfast was very good with lots of choice. For the cost it is good value for money. Far more of a personal experience than stopping in a big, corporate place. I will probably be going back to Canterbury in the future and I will look to stay here again.||Thank you.

Very friendly and helpful host. He gave us a lot of info about the area. We were with 3 adults, and here we had 3 separate beds, which was great. In all other locations we had a double bed and a couch bed for the 3 of us. Lovely smelling soap, nice breakfast, map of the area, really nothing missing. Quiet street. Great pizza place just around the corner with excellent food.

We stayed in the Clare Ellen Guest House for six nights in September. We took our daughter for her freshers’ week at the University of Kent and almost everything was fully booked so we decided to go for a guest house instead of a hotel. Finally, the overall experience was so positive that we were glad that we have not booked a hotel room.|| ||The location is only 10 minutes walking distance to the Canterbury city center through the walls of the old town and an amazing park. It is less than five minutes to the Canterbury East train station. The host Ahmad is extremely helpful about everything. There are couple of places to eat just 2 minutes away in case you don’t feel like walking to town for the evening and the local pub was very good.||Upon arrival he introduces the Guest House, the location, shows how to get to the city center and the train station on a map. There are also lots of other leaflets on things to do in and around Canterbury if you are interested. You get your own ourdoor key to get in and out anytime of the day. The building is a classic English cottage with 6-7 guest rooms of different sizes. We were in the biggest room with four single beds on the third floor. All rooms have their en-suite bathroom and shower. There are also coffee and tea making facilities in the room.|| ||Breakfast is a very nice experience. You choose what you’d like to eat from the menu and everything is cooked fresh according to what you’d like such as full English breakfast, omelettes, porridge etc. While waiting for your breakfast there is always a good opportunity to chat with other guests which makes it feel more homely.|| ||We were there to settle our daughter in her first year at university hence had a lot of things to do including shopping for bedding, kitchen equipment etc. Ahmad was so helpful with always the right suggestions and tips on what to find where, best parking locations in town (we rented a car). There is available parking space at the back of the house. They also offer laundry service and came very handy for us cause we wanted to have a quick wash of all the new bedding and towels we bought for her. We left them one day and got them the next all washed and dried.

Have stayed here a couple of times whilst visiting Canterbury. This is a good value for money establishment. The rooms are comfortable with a decent en-suite and powerful shower. There is a small car park at the back and its a short walk into the centre of Canterbury. Breakfast was very tasty although a little slow. Would happily use again if visiting Canterbury.

Every year I visit Clare Ellen Guest House. This year, I wanted to show it (and also lovely Canterbury of course) to my family. Again it was a pleasant stay for us. It's not directly situated in the town centre but this 10 min walk (I recommend to take it through Dane John Gardens!) isn't bad at all. A few bathrooms are very small but it's acceptable as I don't go there for the bathrooms but for the warm hospitality, the cozy & soft beds and the freshly cooked breakfast. 🙂 ||Will be back soon!

Don’t look any further if you want to stay in a good quality hotel close to the city center, that offers great value for money. Clare Ellen Guest House is on 15 minutes easy walking distance from Canterbury Cathedral. It offers free private parking, so you save the parking costs in the expensive city center. |It has very comfortable beds and clean rooms and bathrooms. |Breakfast (chosen from a menu with several full English or continenal breakfasts) is included in the price. Our vegetarian full English breakfasts were delicious!
