Clematis Cottages is a wonderful and peaceful get away from it all and chill out place to be. Superb cottages well laid out with spacious rooms and all facilities required. Richard and Kaye are superb hosts and really make you welcome , they also have a great selection of homemade goodies .... honey 🍯, chutneys, pickles and preserves which you can purchase.
Also the grounds are well maintained with peaceful walks with Summer houses , benches situated in viewing locations if you just need to relax and take it all in.
It is set in an excellent location with all viewing attractions close by .
Superb way to relax and enjoy a peaceful break , I would certainly recommend this location to anyone .

I so enjoyed staying in "The Retreat" last week. It's attractive mezzanine woodwork & bedroom is perfect for 1-2 people & the entire living, kitchen & bathroom space is well-equipped for all possible needs. I had the bonus of having friends staying next door in "Hollyhock" and hosts, Richard & Kay, very thoughtfully, placed picnic tables between our 2 buildings for us to enjoy eating as a group outdoors & under shelter. We're hoping to return next year for our annual reunion.

This used to be my family's old farm, with a bit of poorly health wanted to visit with my wife and three dogs. The effort put into to the place is outstanding, the attention to detail makes you want to sell your existing home and move in. The place was so tranquil and relaxing, it was just want we all needed. There is only one other word and that's PERFECT! If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life the farm is a unique one of a kind retreat which can be stored in the amazing memories box.

Clematis cottages are a lovely and peaceful place to stay.The cottages are immaculate and clean.My partnerand I stayed in the stone bungalow which was terrific. It has two good sized double bed rooms with ensure showers and toilets a large open plan longe diner and a kitchen to die for.The owners are Richard and Kay and are a really lovely couple who are very accomodating and friendly. Richard keeps bees and sells his honey which is really really lovely they also keep chickens and sell their free range eggs,my partner and I had some of those for our breakfasts whilecwewere there and you can taste the difference between freshly laid eggs and the ones you buy in the supermarket. Kay is the expert at making home made chutneys and jams.All the ingredients are grown in their garden and used for making them.This place is so peaceful, there is a wildlife pond that you can sit at and just while away your time a couple of summer houses to use.People come from as far as Canada,America and continental Europe to stay at this beautiful place.It is only a few miles fro the charming old Georgian town of Stamford in Lincolnshire. This town has a lot of beautiful old architecture and lots of shops and eateries.Burleigh house is just outside of Stamford where they do the horse trials which if visited by people from all over the world and some of these actually book to stay at Clematis cottages. All in all a very pleasant place to be.

I needed somewhere to rest, refresh and renew after a traumatic 2022 and I found it at The Retreat at Clematis Cottages. I only stayed four days but it did me so much good I felt as if I'd been away for a month. Richard and Kaye are the perfect hosts, with a warm, friendly welcome and very generous in making your stay perfect. As they live on site, they are always available without being intrusive. Fresh flowers in the house, plus milk, honey and homemade jam were a lovely welcome. The Retreat was just perfect for me on my own and I felt perfectly safe. It was comfortable and well equipped with amazing views over the rolling countryside. I loved the summer house with its comfy furniture where I did a lot of reading, that is, when I didn't doze off, so relaxing was the atmosphere. It feels like the middle of nowhere but if you can bear to leave this beautiful place for an hour or so, the pretty town of Stamford is just a five mile drive away with all its shops and amenities. I treated myself to a pamper session at Equilibrium which was wonderful. I'm already planning my return to this wonderful place later in the year.

We stayed for a week at The Retreat Cottage in June 2022. We had a wedding to attend in Stamford and the location was perfect. ||On arrival we were thrilled with the idyllic setting and warm welcome from our hosts Kaye & Richard.||The cottage had everything we needed for our stay and Kaye even supplied us with a fan as it was exceptionally hot during our stay as well as fresh free range eggs & their own honey on arrival. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very homely. Great WiFi and plenty of parking outside your door. ||The grounds were outstanding, several seating areas, a beautiful summer house and flower borders. ||There is a large grass area next to the entrance drive with a golf flag in the middle and Richard supplied us with golf clubs to have a few practise drives. ||We were shown around the other properties by Kaye when we enquired, all of an exceptionally high standard and we may look to book one of these next time we visit.||Highly recommended Clematis Cottages, can’t wait to return.

We stayed at in the 2 bedroom Clematis Cottage for a week in April 2022. From the time we booked, Richard and Kaye were excellent and responded to any questions we had prior to arriving.
We were able to get groceries delivered for our arrival day as we were arriving at the property late in the evening.
The cottage was perfect for our trip and was very clean. There is lots of space and the kitchen is well stocked to cook meals at home. The location was excellent and allowed us some relaxation and we were able to host friends and family for a BBQ. We loved spending time around the lake and sitting out in the sunshine. The proximity to Stamford is great and the peaceful location is amazing.
The highlight was Richard taking the time to show my 13 year old son and I the beehives. We learned so much about the bees and really enjoyed the experience of seeing the hive. Later in the day, Richard brought us some honey fresh from the hive which was incredible to taste.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this location and will definitely be staying here again when we come back to visit family in England.
Richard and Kaye have created a brilliant location and are excellent hosts. Thank you for helping making our trip back to UK full of good memories.

Met up with a friend here to catch up and hang out and we couldn’t have picked a better spot. The Eco Barn was excellent, and Kaye and Richard were so super helpful and friendly. The cottages and grounds are a wonderful place to relax, and both Stamford and Rutland Water are super easy to get to from here. The honey, jams, chutneys and tomatoes are also brill!
