Liked: Warm and friendly welcome by Gerry, pick your spot we are very easy here he said. Site is small but very peaceful, nice walks around the lakes and restaurant very reasonable and good food. shower and toilet block very clean, Gerry's wife (sorry didn't catch your name) even offered to drive us into town if we needed. thank you for a lovely stay. We will definitely return

Liked: Easy to find. Small number of camping pitches and I could park where I chose. Nice site for nature and the lakes, quiet, the A12 could be heard during the day but quietened down at night. Owls and plenty of dawn chorus. Decent size shower room with loo and washbasin. I was told later that there was a heater in there but didn't find it. Pitches were level and decent distance from each other.

Disliked: Road leading to site is single track with passing places but only for a very short way. Barrier locked when I arrived at 4.30, it was supposed to be open until 5pm. No reply to first 2 mobile numbers listed on gate, luckily someone came out and I was told the security number for getting in.
Only shower and a toilet cubical were in a portacabin type building.

Liked: This was our 4th stay. Jerry the owner is always happy to help. Fishing good. The restaurant is good value and food great.

We visited this fishery to get bait as our local bait shop was closed. We were on the way to meet friends in area so came about by accident. It was rated the 2nd best fishing lake in the country. It's open Jan to Jan. Has somewhere to eat. Bait and tackle shop. It looks well looked after and if it wasn't as far away to our home this would be the place to fish. It used to hold fishing matches but the owner stopped a few years ago. It's the best place I've seen for fishing in Essex anyway. It's very clean and has good facilities. I would highly recommend being a female fisher woman lol!

Liked: Pleasant site with good facilities, close to Witham and the A12 for the wider region.
If you like fishing this is the perfect spot. We saw some big fish in those waters.

Amazing day at the fishery, we took our young boys and the owners couldn’t of been more helpful, they were so friendly and welcoming and took the time to advise and help the boys with their rigs etc, beautiful place, well kept grounds and a beautiful tea room, our boys were over the moon with their catches, couldn’t recommend enough!

Liked: Nice quiet site, this was our first stay with the motorhome we’d just bought & was in the area on business for a few days.
All good, didn’t get chance to look round the site as it was dark on night when we got back each night. Breakfast smelt good but unfortunately we didn’t have time to try them. We would stay again

Disliked: Non, if being mega critical a lot of road noise but didn’t stop us sleeping

Liked: Rustic pitches in its natural beauty toilet and shower kept very clean lovely cafe very clean and reasonable prices walk round ponds lovely

Disliked: To close to a12 traffic at night noisey but would stay again
