Given the high price point, very mixed experience.
Guest rooms are nice, but not as good as you may expect for a hotel that purports to be of a high standard. Rooms and their features are inconsistent.
Reception and bar staff were lovely and could not have been more helpful.
Avoid the restaurant however, at all costs. Especially if there's more than a couple of you and/or there's another big group staying. We had reserved a table over a week in advance and had been flexible on time to help the restaurant staff out. However, the service we received was absolutely atrocious. Waited over an hour for starters, some were still missing, then by the time we had mains, the kitchen had closed, so no offer of dessert or coffees etc. I'm not sure we would have even got to main courses had a family member not asked to speak to the F&B manager; indeed he was waiting to speak to the duty manager when the starters miraculously put in an appearance. Management were less than helpful and clearly only interested in the rugby group who were also staying.
Overall I would say avoid this hotel at all costs and definitely never consider dining here. Disappointing for the price paid.

Absolutely fantastic service received today at The Cottons Hotel. Every member of staff we came into contact during our Spa Day was super helpful and really friendly. They really couldn't do enough for us. The spa was spotlessly clean and the outdoor Jacuzzi was lovely to relax in. We all had a facial and came away feeling super relaxed. The light lunch provided was really plentiful with fresh ingredients, the brownie was beautiful. We came to celebrate my mum's special birthday so we were delighted when she was presented with a special birthday chocolate treat at the table, totally unexpected and really lovely. Thank you to the Cottons Team for a fabulous day. We can't wait to return!

Customer service was exceptional throughout our stay. Food was good quality. Breakfast amazing. Bed was so comfy, had great nights sleep. Couldn’t get TV to work properly, just came up with radio channels. Room was modern and comfortable. Overall lovely hotel and staff x

Terrible experience for my baby shower.

Myself and my friends/family were appalled at the lack of service on the day received together with only providing one scone 4 tiny sandwiches and tiny cakes that were not nice.
How can you justify £30 a head for that? Everyone including myself was extremely disappointed and went home hungry.

My friend is halal and the waiter asked if he could remove the ham and leave the rest. That's not acceptable to even ask this. There should have been fresh sandwiches available for her.

In all, the whole experience was upsetting and the service was so poor. I'm appalled and embarrassed as I stated to all my guests how wonderful the experience would be due to attending a baby shower there before.

To add to all that there was a guest that was unavailable to attend and you promised that refund too which I'm still waiting on.

I be advising people to not attend this place.

Had a lovely 3 day stay here. The positive points we experienced were a fantastic evening meal and lovely breakfasts, nice room with fridge, polite and helpful staff. The milk and water dispensers are a fantastic idea.||There are a few things that could do with attention. The room could do with some drawers for your belongings, there is definitely room to install some. Also we were not keen on the mattress topper on bed but this could just be personal preference. ||The only major downside we experienced was the afternoon tea which was below standard. It was included in the package we purchased but priced at £30 per person I would have complained had I had paid separately. Cakes had definitely seen better days and not really good value for money. Worth about £10 not £30.||All in all we would return if in the area but give the afternoon tea a miss.

We stayed at Cottons the night before we boarded a cruise ship in Liverpool. It was a very lovely way to start our honeymoon. The hotel and the spa were lovely and the staff very accommodating. Only two minor points of feedback for improvement, that we have passed on through the check-out survey. We would recommend David Thwaites Hotels for a wonderful stay - I've also been to the Kettering sister hotel which was just as lovely.

Booked for a cheeky two night break at the Cottons. The staff were all friendly and polite . The bar served a good range of drinks, where we had cocktails also a pint of draught beer which came from a well kept cellar. We ate in the restaurant twice , all the food was freshly cooked. We had an afternoon in the pool and outside jacuzzi sipping our prosecco . Breakfast served hot and plenty to eat. My only criticism on breakfast would be that using a Cumberland curl makes the portion to big I would suggest using the same quality sausage but not so large as to avoid food waste .

Great hotel for a 2 night stay whilst we attended a wedding. Rooms were comfortable and clean (with a very large bed which was appreciated). A few things seemed in need of a bit of TLC in the room (e.g. shower) but nothing major and everything worked. Hotel itself was in good condition and decorated nicely. Staff all very friendly and attentive. One of the best hotel breakfasts I've had. Would recommend!
