Lovely hotel set in nice grounds. We stayed overnight as we were attending a wedding nearby, both the hotel owner and his son were friendly and helpful, letting us check in early and even helping us get back to the hotel when the local taxi man decided to not answer his phone. The hotel decor felt a bit dated to me, but there wasn't anything wrong with it, it was clean and tidy. The room we booked was en-suite and was a good size with a nice view of the lawn. The only slight gripe was that the shower didn't have very good pressure, but it's not enough to mark it down to a 4 star review. Breakfast was good, a good choice, locally sourced food and very tasty. If you're looking to stay in the area then I definitely recommend it!

Where do I start? Greeted on arrival by both Robert and Tim with tea and cake, lovely after a 4hour drive. We had dinner first night, the while hotel is full of antiques, nics and nacs and paintings. Something different to look at. Dinner was lovely, and so many veg on offer. We booked for a second meal. It was such a lovely relaxed trip, Robert and Tim perfect hosts, making themselves available but not intrusive. Breakfast cooked to order and plentiful. The style may not be to everyones taste, but this is an old house and it suits it. The bathroom was a little tired, but fully functional and everything was Spotless. If it had been a modern Update, may not have suited the house. Our room was large and roomy. We both slept well, albeit the bed was a little creaky, a bit like my bones after all the walking we did along the south west coast path. All in all we would stay again.

Absolutely loved my stay here, Robert and Tim were absolutely lovely from start to finish, even going so far as to offer to pick me up from a wedding reception if I was unable to get a cab back.
The room was delightful, and the bath after riding my motorbike in the rain from London was really appreciated.
The decor is in keeping with the country house vibe, and the room was spacious and well catered for. The breakfast was awesome. And Bude is about 20mins up the road.

I loved my stay here and would definitely go back if I found myself in Devon or Cornwall again 😊

Everything about this hotel is top class .From the guest rooms to the grounds and from the food to the hosts we could not have asked for more. In a quiet area of Devon with no noise from the road it was verypeaceful and the grounds, complete with croquet lawn and mini golf course were wonderful. We opted for dinner, bed and breakfast and were not disappointed with anything, The guest rooms, lounges, and dining rooms are all decorated superbly with William Morris wallpaper and antiques. Fantastic service from Robert and Tim.Many thanks.

Had a super short break in a lovely Country House Hotel. Robert and son, Tim, were great hosts. The hotel is very charming and just what we needed for a quiet break in a lovely setting and area of the country. Just a very traditional Country House hotel as has been covered in previous comments..keep up the good work. Will definitely be back when our daughter moves to the area.

This is an excellent hotel where everything has been thought of and carried out with loving care. I have to confess I was rather overcome with the sheer loveliness of it all. A friendly welcome on arrival with tea and lemon drizzle cake; fresh flowers in our room and in the lounges, fresh milk in a tiny fridge on the landing, and a quiet elegance throughout the hotel. There was even hotel writing paper in a letter rack on the desk on the lounge; a detail that to me is the mark of a really excellent traditional hotel.||Originally a vicarage, it’s a beautiful building with large and spacious public rooms; there’s a dining room as well as a breakfast room and both were in use, even though we and one other guest were the only people staying on the night we were there. The food was excellent; I have never seen so many vegetables in one place at one time to accompany our main courses – I think there were 12 different ones, if you include the potatoes cooked three different ways. A good bottle of Alsace white was remarkably good value.||Breakfast is cooked to order and was also very good. The father and son hosts are courteous and keen to make sure guests are happy and comfortable. Wifi is fast and efficient.||TIP: check the location when you travel; we used satnav, but ours took us to a farm and private house!

Back again after a fortnight! The Court Barn has become a firm favourite but last time we had booked to eat elsewhere. Put that right on this visit and the food is as fantastic as the rest of the experience. The location is tranquil but only a short drive to the Atlantic coast and highway on one side and the main A30 on the other. The place is spotlessly clean, comfortable with large well equipped rooms but the father and son team, Robert and Tim, are the real reason people come back time and time again. Nothing is too much trouble from complimentary tea and home made cake on arrival throughout your stay. There is plenty to do in the grounds from pitch and putt to croquet and lots of games and a well stocked library and comfortable lounges should there be a rainy day. An ideal location to tour Devon and Cornwall we simply cannot recommend the Court Barn Country Hotel and restaurant highly enough
