This hotel is very clean and the staff are very friendly and could not do enough for you. I slept really well. Happy hour in the pub was 5 till 6 every day and the beer is kept well especially the guinness.

This is a review of the bar staff, not the hotel (I have stayed here before and it wasn't a good experience). We stayed for a couple of drinks, sitting outside so my brother could vape. We visited several pubs in the town and the friendliness of the bar staff here was so much better than everywhere else. Drinks were reasonably priced for an hotel but it was the smile and reception that we received that were most important. We will go back there first the next time we are in town.

When I arrived the employee who greeted me pushed the arrivals form you fill in about yourself followed by the card reader, I asked what he wanted he said "pay", at this point I knew this wasn't going to be a great experience.||I was allocated room 26 which isn't mapped/highlighted on any of the floors so had to go back down to reception to ask where it was, he duly took me to an attic room which was up around four sets of narrow stairs (again he said absolutely nothing).||I sat on the bed and immediately knew I could not sleep here as the springs had given up the ghost years ago, there simply was no spring in the bed whatsoever. I went back down to reception and was given a different room and the bed was fine, (there were three in this room).||Overall I wouldn't say the hotel is filthy as previous reviewers have said, I didn't see any cockroaches or any other insect life, however it is very shabby and needs a makeover. The carpets look like they ware put down in the 1980's.||The shower worked well and the bathroom was clean if a little dated.||One of the strangest things is that there was no breakfast which I thought was extraordinary.||I would not recommend this hotel, it was no a great experience and I won't stay there again.

Popped in late morning, nice traditional inn. Had a drink, the place is filled with f1 memorabilia. Asked if they were showing the qualifying or the race “no” … disappointed really. Found it a bit odd. Didn’t bother looking at menu this time.

Coming back from Southampton battling through traffic jams we decided to stop in Brackley for something to eat. There was parking near The Crown so we went in there. I asked the young lady serving at the bar if they did food and she said it began at 6.00. We ordered drinks and sat down to wait. We noticed a specials board on the bar and decided to have chilli con carni and ham, egg and chips both priced at £9. The lady went to check they were available, she came back and said the special chef wasn't there so we couldn't have this food. We suggested the board was taken down so no-one else would ask for these meals. We looked at the bar menu, I chose lasagne and my husband asked for calamari and a bowl of chips, order was taken and paid for. A few minutes later a man came over and said there was no calamari, as this was the only thing my husband wanted he said cancel the order and give me a refund please. The man said this wasn't possible as it was a card payment. My husband asked if there was a manager there, no there wasn't. Eventually they gave us a cash refund. We won't be going there again.

I don't even know where to start... It's simply absurd that such a place has a license to operate. Extremely unpleasant staff, no information, never know or even care to help you search (or where to search). The worst place I've ever stayed in my life. The room is small, uncomfortable, badly fitted and dirty. You see stains and dirt everywhere. There's a mountain of garbage under my bed, apparently that's where they throw the dirt when they "clean". They said it was a pet-friendly hotel, I brought my cat and they just put me in a room with a huge hole in the wall, which I had to cover up myself so as not to put my cat at risk. The hot water simply stinks and tastes awful, I had diarrhea for two days because of it. The shower only has two temperatures: Alaska cold or Saahara boiling, and you have about 3 minutes in between to be able to shower at a pleasant temperature - which is obviously impossible, specifically because no water comes out of the shower, which is obviously dirty to match the rest of this disgusting 'hotel'. But the worst of all is yet to come - there is no security.
The room key simply opens the doors to ANY room. However, the 'hotel' has free access to the public, with no doors, gates, alarms or security cameras. It was the worst five days of my life, but thank God I managed to find somewhere else to stay.
Seriously, there's nothing to make staying here worthwhile. Not even the price, since they think they have the right to charge an average of 110 pounds a night, the price of hotels with some dignity.

Stayed here for 1 night at the begining of july 2024. I wrote a review at the time as very disappointed with the staffing service, the cleanliness of the entire place but specifically our room. There was an awful smell through out the accommodation area. There were dirty marks on door handles and light switches in the room. The bathroom wasn't particularly clean. There was some brown stain on the runner on the bed. The kettle element was rusty and the kettle stank. Only 1 towel provided for 2 adults. The batteries on tv remote had gaffer tape holing it. Recieved a call after writing my first review and it was agreed that if they compensated me I remove the review, which i did. We have been back and forth countless times for the compensation and over a month later. Nothing. Therefore have re-done a review as its a fine example of the shocking quality of the place. Would not stay there again!

£13.50 for 4 prawns and 4 pieces of hard battered tasteless calamari, (not sure there was actually anythinginside), with a small piece of lettuce on each plate.
Person behind the bar did not know how to make all the coffees on the menu. To say the place is tired is an understatement. There is a copy of the Magna Carta on the wall near the bar, which was probably the last time it was renovated. Leave well alone
