I’ve been to the curious fox twice in two weeks. The food was sooo good the first weekend that I had to go back for seconds. I turned up yesterday only to find that they were no longer serving food and they were only one table left seated. About to leave they went to the kitchen and asked if they could plate us up a beef dinner. The kitchen agreed and we were seated. The dinner that followed was one of the best roast dinners I’ve had in recent years. Far too much for me. The beef was well cooked, the veggies that came with it, value for money, portion size, flavours. I left very happy. Well worth a visit, the foods amazing. The pork belly I had last week was a must try. Real sensational place. The decor and the vibe is nice too and the staff really make it what it is.

Fantastic Spot – Highly Recommended!

We visited The Curious Fox on Friday, 11 April and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was fantastic, with great music setting the mood, and the food was absolutely delicious. The menu is extensive, offering plenty of choices to suit all tastes.

The managers and staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which really added to the overall vibe. It’s a charming local pub and restaurant that we’ll definitely be returning to.

Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy quality food in a relaxed and inviting setting.

We booked for Sunday lunch. Greeted by the owner Lee who was extremely friendly and engaging. We had a wheelchair user in our party and Lee and the team could not be more accommodating for our needs. The Sunday roast was exquisite, cooked to perfection and at a very reasonable price. We would definitely visit Lee and the Curious Fox when in Skipton again. Booking is essential I’d suggest.

Fantastic meals full of flavour. Attentive staff, lovely decor and welcoming vibe. I do think it's pricey for the location/area but there is quality reflected in the food and the effort for making everything fresh.
Would absolutely recommend and excited to hopefully visit again. Thank you.

We visited on a warm May afternoon. A friendly member of staff managed to help us find somewhere to sit despite lots of reserved tables. We had drinks and some light bites. Food was just what we needed and tasted delicious. Some chilled house music played in the background and just the right volume as not to drown out conversation. Good mix of old and young patrons. Will definitely return!

Arrived on time for our booked table to be told our table wasn’t available and we’d have to wait. No apology, but ok, we’ll have a drink and wait a bit. Then one on the bar staff smashed a glass covering one of our party. Again no apology, but accidents happen.

45 minutes waiting after threatening to leave we eventually got our table and managed to order the food. This lead to another extended wait until our meals arrived. Food was adequate for most of the party, but certainly not good enough for the prices they’re charging.

In the end we spoke to one of the managers who appeared drunk. Explained we were not happy with the service we’d received. Still no apology. They did knock the cost of a bottle of Prosecco off the bill, so I’ll give them that, the manager was struggling to string a sentence together so in the end we just asked for the bill, paid and got out.

In general the whole experience was awful. With better management and some customer service experience the situation could have been defused and managed much better. This could be a nice restaurant but in general I would advise not to bother.

In response to the comments below. I did put a timer on my phone, but only after we’d been waiting for 30 mins and we’re getting annoyed, 30 + 15 =45. Hence my original comment about the 45 minute wait. Yes none of my party were hurt by the glass being broken, however one was covered in it and there was no apology made. None of my party made any derogatory comments about the bar staff or waitress and can assure you that there was no abusive or threatening language used and no one collared any staff. We did attempt to speak to the manager, however he seemed to be struggling to speak or string words together.

This whole situation has occurred because it was not managed at all, never mind badly. I do agree that you can’t please everyone. Would be better to use this as a lesson to learn from and improve.

I would suggest recruiting someone with some restaurant management experience and try not to make up stories to justify bad service and a honest but poor review.

Really awesome, took my girlfriend on a day trip and we were both blown away by how amazing it was. We were a bit unsure as we didn't know what to expect but it was so worth it. The food was gorgeous, the ambiance quirky and the staff were polite and personable!

Superb, a hidden gem at a very reasonable price.

Stayed here this week after seeing 4 in a bed.
The whole experience from start to finish was just perfect.
Had Sunday lunch, very busy resturant. Food couldn't be faulted and prices very reasonable for what we got.
On check in we were given a complimentary upgrade.
Huge warm cozy and spotless room with a jet bath. The waiter working was very helpful with information about the area.
The owners both very chatty and welcoming.
And breakfast ( the main reason for the trip) was totally worth the wait.

Only downside.
We only booked for 1 night.

We will definitely be back again 🤗🤗
