Second time visiting this lovely cottage. Owners are brilliant and so welcoming. There was a yummy cake waiting for us on arrival plus lots of firewood to make sure we were nice and cosy.

The cottage itself is in a great location - nearby facilities in Allendale Town and great walks on the doorstep; plus wildlife galore - twice we had the privilege of seeing deer in the fields in front of the cottage and kestrels hunting their breakfast. It's also not too far in the car to other more well known places around Northumbria.

Brilliant for anyone wanting to stargaze with the dark skies in the area - we were lucky enough to have perfectly clear skies in early November and it was a sight to behold.

Would 100% recommend this place for a peaceful, relaxing getaway.

Our party of 4 arrived and we made ourselves at home, it seemed wonderful with the owner having left us dog treats and logs for the fire. The next day we took our rubbish to the top of the lane as instructed and were met by the cottage owner. 3 of is were in the car, while it seemed she was digging for further information about us. Odd we thought, but we drove out to go on a dog walk. We were returning to the car when we got a phone call from the company we had booked through saying the owner wanted us to leave immediately as she was expecting 2 people and no dogs. We drove back to the cottage in dread after arguing that we had our confirmation emails and proof of payment so we rightly shouldn't be kicked out. Once that was no longer an issue she took umbridge at the legality of our support bubble. Despite us working through this rigmarole before booking. She demanded proof of the bubble, so we ended up sending the travel agent one of our party's medical diagnosis, which I felt was disgustingly out of order. The travel agent had already explained we were legally travelling prior to this demand. Eventually she did concede and we were allowed to stay and enjoy the cottage, however at this point our spirits were thoroughly dampened, after being treated like criminals. I thoroughly expect that if we had been the exact same bubble but a group of over 60s she never would have had an issue. The view from the cottage was splendorous but after this encounter we shan't return.

When we arrived, we were pleasantly pleased with the area around the cottage and the cottage itself. We were left with wood for the fire and treats for the dogs. All was perfect until our second day when a member of our party received a phone call from the cottage owner. She quite frankly was extremely rude to all off us and outright accused us of lying, questioning the legality of our support bubble. The issues were completely unfounded and she had zero reason to suspect this. Over the course of the next two days, we were threatened with police action and were left feeling unwelcome for the remainder of our holiday.
We were made to feel as though it was our fault for her reservations as we failed to inform the cottage owner that a member of our party ‘had special needs’, despite the holiday being booked through a travel agent and all details surrounding our bubble were confirmed.
After being made to feel extremely unwelcome and uneasy, we are still yet to receive any attempt of an apology which quite frankly is unacceptable both in a professional and personal manner.

This is a well equipped and cosy cottage with a very impressive view. We stayed in the winter and were glad to have the car, although it's not far from Allendale the route is pretty steep. We would definitely go back, I bet it's a dream in a summer's day, I can imagine sitting on the patio looking over the valley with a glass in my hand.

Peaceful and beautiful surroundings with lots of signposted footpaths. The cottage is nicely furnished and equipped. Excellent local facilities in nearby Allendale Town.
