I joined David Lloyd In April this year and honestly don’t look back at the decision that I made, yes it is expensive and wouldn’t normally spend this much on Gym membership, but, it is more than just a “gym” it’s a club and I spend so much time here it is worth it.

The Gym has top of the range equipment that is very well maintained, the layout is superb and done in such a way that makes it easier if you are self conscious. It does get busy from 17:00-19:00 but this is standard at all gyms and I find if you go Sunday or Saturday evening it can be very quiet.

The outdoor pool is a massive selling point for me and it’s so nice to swim in an outside pool, something I don’t usually do.

The Spa facilities are very impressive, with two saunas, a steam room, cool room, indoor jacuzzi and outdoor hot tub with seating areas and sun loungers.

The Adult Lounge is very useful and I do lots of work from here,it has very fast internet and I find I can get work done in peace without distractions and then go to the gym afterwards before or after work. The food served here is also top quality but some of it does appear a bit pricey.

There is a wide range of classes available included in the membership price including football, tennis, swimming, cyclone and yoga. I do however feel there could be some more classes included in the price of membership such as beginners swimming. The staff that run the classes are brilliant and have seen my full potential and motivated me so much I have noticed a difference in my ability. The PTs that I’ve seen were very knowledgeable and helpful and I am looking at booking further sessions with them.

The manager Kiri and other staff have always been so helpful and have gone out of their way to ensure that I’ve had the best experience.

Our company had their summer team building at David Lloyd Colchester arranged via Aimee from reception who made us all feel so special! I was so impressed with the club, the staff, the instructors, the facilities and the food which was healthy and delicious!

Very dirty in some places, especially the sauna which is absolutely filthy. The outdoor pool also needs cleaning more often. The club needs to understand that customer service is more than just a smile. We expect actual customer service especially for the high cost of membership. As a recent new member I gave feedback to reception on the sauna after joining, as it really is filthy with layers of dirt visible everywhere. This was weeks ago and they have done nothing to address the issue. Other members say maintenance is an issue and it's been like that for years, so it's not just me. This is simply mismanagement, as regular maintenance and cleans of all areas of the club, including the sauna, is a basic. What's worse is to receive direct feedback on a very specific obvious issue and just do nothing, hence 1 stars. Customer service is more than just a smile.

Amazing Gym, Fantastic staff, I feel like I’m on holiday every time I’m there. My favourite part is being able to swim outdoors. They have activities for kids which gives me an hour to go to the gym or spa I usually join every summer as I travel 30 mins to get here! Last weekend they had a live DJ and BBQ ✌️🤩🥳

Very tasty, fresh marine food, lobsters, oysters, fish, crab salad. Cooked very fast.
The personnel is very helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is nice. I definitely recommend it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Outstanding Experience at David Lloyd Club Colchester!

I joined David Lloyd Club Colchester at the Platinum membership level in early February, and I can confidently say that it has exceeded all my expectations. Over the past month, I have visited the club regularly, and every experience has been nothing short of exceptional.

The facilities are top-notch—from the spa area to the yoga classes, meditation sessions, HIIT classes amongst several other club activities, everything is designed to offer the perfect balance of relaxation and high-energy fitness. The ambience of the club is truly special, making each visit a pleasure.

A special mention must go to Callum, whose professionalism and dedication makes a real difference. The front desk staff in general are incredibly welcoming, always greeting members with a warm smile and a cheerful attitude. Their hospitality adds a personal touch that makes you feel valued from the moment you walk in until the moment you leave.

I must admit—I have fallen in love with this club! The combination of an inviting atmosphere, world-class facilities, and an outstanding team makes it hard to imagine going anywhere else. So, whether you’re looking for a place to work out, unwind, or connect with a great community, David Lloyd Colchester is the perfect choice.

At this time, I highly recommend this club to anyone considering a membership, and I would say Five stars all the way!

This review is specifically to mention an excellent front of house member of staff called Lorraine. Lorraine is always so welcoming and friendly when I visit the club and I have been meaning to do a review for her for a long while! She welcomes me with a smile every time and is always happy to help where she can. Today she helped me to successfully book on to a class which I couldn't get on to due to a membership issue on David Lloyd's end which they have yet to resolve. Thanks so much for always being great Lorraine!

Only a member here as its really the only 'luxury' gym in Colchester with these kind of facilities. It Definitely needs a spruce up in Spa and some new gym machines like hip thrust and another Smith machine needed with how busy it gets.
Staff always very polite however trying to get a response out of anyone via email is near on impossible.
