Good location and brilliant customer service by lovely friendly staff. Me and partner popped in while passing by and we didn’t disappoint with our decision. Quick service by a friendly young man. Coffee was great and so does the atmosphere. Nice view of Cathedral if you sit out and have coffee

What has happened to this place Going back years it has been a great place to have a coffee in Rochester.

Over the last 6 months something has changed, Service slow, staff uninterested, orders wrong ... even simple ones.

Also, what's up with the paper cups, and the iced late that's 90% ice

Its honestly horrible here now, sort of feels like one of those nasty tourist trap places you find in central London

I cannot believe this is the original owners/management team.

I really think this cafe is overrated. Ok, the coffee is good but then so is the coffee I make at home. I expect just a little more when buying a coffee outside, especially when drinking in.

The staff all look so unhappy. I sat at a corner table and didn’t see anyone smile once in the hour I was there. It was all very transactional, just taking orders and off you go, very impersonal and the absolute bare minimum service.

The food and cake options are simply dire. Just pre packaged sandwiches absolutely loaded with salt and preservatives. I had a chicken wrap and not even offered to warm it up, no plate, no napkin, nothing. It tasted so dreadful I had to leave most of it despite being really hungry.

It’s quite dark inside which makes the atmosphere feel a bit depressing, not somewhere you want to linger. It would feel ten times better if the staff at least pretended to be happy working there.

If you want a coffee to takeaway as you stroll down the high street, Deaf Cat is a good shout - but don’t hang about!

I visited this cafe because it was advertised as "dog friendly" on google but my experience was anything but. When I arrived with my dog, the staff were too busy chatting to notice me at the door, so I walked in, picked up a sandwich, and went to order a hot drink. Only then was I informed that dogs weren’t allowed. I explained that I was getting takeaway and even offered to hold my dog, which the assistant initially said was fine.

After I paid, however, I was suddenly told to wait outside for my order. If dogs aren’t allowed, that’s fine—but the lack of clear communication and the inconsistent response were frustrating. If the staff had been paying attention instead of chatting, they could have informed me before I ordered, and I wouldn’t have wasted my time. Poor service and misleading advertising—definitely won’t be returning.

So I left my order that I paid for and walked out….

Bit of crumby place, cobwebs and dust about. I know it’s supposed to be rustic but needed a clean.

Not overly friendly place either.

However started to fill up while we were there so it look popular with others.

Seriously rude and unwelcoming staff here. Take your money elsewhere, Leonard's cafe at store 104 + Rochester coffee and many more on the high street.. you will without unreasonable doubt receive a much friendlier service and at least some basic pleasantries.

Horrible atmosphere here do not recommend.
