Deer Park Cabins: An Overview

Nestled within the scenic landscapes of Cornwall, United Kingdom, Deer Park Cabins stands as a prominent offering for those seeking indoor lodging options. Located at 2 Cedar Cottages, Herodsfoot, near the historic market town of Liskeard (PL14 4QY), this establishment provides a unique accommodation experience. While primarily focused on indoor stays, the exact nature and extent of the lodging facilities are subjects of ongoing inquiry for potential guests. With a significant online presence evidenced by its 9 reviews on Google My Business, averaging a respectable 4.7 out of 5 stars, Deer Park Cabins has managed to garner positive feedback from a portion of its clientele.

Location and Accessibility

The cabins are situated in the village of Herodsfoot, which is part of the Liskeard constituency. This location places them relatively close to the A30 road, offering potential access to the surrounding Lake District and Dartmoor areas, though they remain within the bounds of Cornwall itself. The specific address, 2 Cedar Cottages, Herodsfoot, indicates a potentially shared or cluster property arrangement, possibly within a small development or alongside other local residences. Proximity to Liskeard (approximately a 5-10 minute drive depending on traffic) means guests can access local amenities, including the historic Liskeard town centre with its market place and shopping area.

Understanding the Accommodation

As indicated by its primary specialty, Deer Park Cabins focuses on providing indoor accommodation. While the term 'cabins' typically evokes images of small, detached structures, the designation 'Cedar Cottages' in the address suggests a possible divergence from typical expectations. This could imply structures that are more cottage-like in style and size, yet still retain the 'cabin' essence. Guests should investigate whether these units are standalone structures or perhaps part of a small cluster. The 'indoor lodging' focus suggests that these units are equipped with the necessary amenities for an overnight stay, including sleeping arrangements, basic furnishings, and essential utilities like heating and lighting. However, it's crucial to understand the scale of these accommodations – are they suitable for families, couples, or primarily solo travelers The level of self-contained facilities, cooking options, and bathroom availability would be key factors for potential guests to determine if Deer Park Cabins aligns with their needs.

Booking and Contact Information

For inquiries and reservations, potential guests can reach out to Deer Park Cabins directly using the provided telephone number, 1503220370. This direct line is the most reliable method for obtaining detailed information, clarifying the specifics of the available units, pricing structures, booking procedures, and any unique conditions or requirements. It is advisable to call ahead to discuss specific needs, as the nature of 'cabins' might limit certain amenities compared to traditional hotels or guesthouses. The absence of a listed website in the provided information means that contacting them directly via phone is even more essential for comprehensive details. While online reviews offer valuable insights into previous guest experiences, they cannot replace direct communication for confirming booking details and understanding what the Deer Park Cabins experience entails.

Assessing Guest Reviews

The 9 reviews available on Google My Business provide a snapshot of guest satisfaction. An average rating of 4.7 out of 5 is a strong indicator of overall guest contentment. Prospective guests should carefully read these reviews to identify common themes, whether positive (such as cleanliness, coziness, friendly hosts, or scenic views) or negative (such as potential issues with space, amenities, or booking processes). The high rating suggests that the establishment has successfully addressed most concerns raised by its visitors. However, the limited number of reviews means that the experiences represented might not be exhaustive. It is also worth noting that the review content may not be available in all languages, potentially limiting the international perspective.

Planning Your Stay at Deer Park Cabins

If Deer Park Cabins aligns with your travel plans and accommodation preferences, thorough preparation is key. Given the nature of a cabin stay, packing appropriately for the weather and potentially limited comforts is advisable. Guests should inquire about any specific rules or regulations regarding noise, pets, or fire safety. Understanding the check-in and check-out times is crucial for a smooth experience. Furthermore, considering the potential remoteness (even if Herodsfoot is relatively accessible), having a car is often necessary for flexibility during your stay. Deer Park Cabins offers a distinctive form of accommodation, blending the tranquility of nature with the convenience of indoor comfort. By understanding its location, facilities, and booking options, travelers can make an informed decision about whether this establishment meets their needs for a relaxing or unique getaway.

We have stayed at so many forest cabins but had held off booking this one , probably because of the very long journey to get to it and it’s one of the pricey ones . |TOP TIP |If you find yourself on a 3ft wide road to get to the site you’re on the wrong road . |There is a better road if you go along a bit ! |Even so the edges of the correct drive in could be cut back . |Another TOP TIP |Check which cabin you are staying in , ( number ) we knew we were waterside but NOT that we had to climb up and down 26 large steps to come and go . Exhausting after a 9 hour journey and unpacking in the rain . |( cabin 15) |Having said that , the site is ok |Cabin ok to a point but I think the cleaning team forgot their dusters before we arrived !! |Staff very friendly ! Kim was lovely . |We stayed beside the small stream / river and seeing and feeding the geese , ducks , fish inc 2 carp and all other wildlife was fabulous and made some of our holiday . |The cabins have metal roofs which is not ideal in torrential rain . We had to vacate to the downstairs bedrooms to sleep . |The hot tubs are serviced twice every day ! Seems excessive but I’m guessing it keeps everyone safe . |Looe was only 8 mile away and Plymouth only 20 . Both fabulous places to visit . If you go to Looe book in The Sardine Factory restaurant . Yummy . |So the site is ok but its only real merit is the close location to other places . |It’s not top of our list for a revisit .

First time with this Co. We loved the pond-side chalet with well looked after hot tub on the deck. Only criticism is that the downstairs WC didn't flush initially, which Maintenance came to fix promptly, however, never worked efficiently. Great staff. |We dined in the little restaurant, and had 2x delivered take-aways. Food was passable but not great. |We would definitely use this Co. again, but take our own food.

We've stayed here 5 times over the years, so you can clearly see we love it. You have to appreciate youre in the wilds of Cornwall so connectivity will be clunky, even in this modern day. Internet speed will be between 1 and 5mbs and no mobile phone signal. However if you have WiFi calling enabled that should not be an issue. The cabins have all of home luxuries including dishwasher, hod, toaster, 2 showers, bath and amazing hot tub. My one criticism is the sofas and the beds, they are far far too soft, the sofas collapse as you sit on them, and by that I mean they offer no support. I have back issues and in the end I had to either sit on a dining room chair or I had to stand. The beds are not great, far to soft and do t support posture. My husband who has a strong Co situation was also getting backache.||||Apart from that the place is idyllic, we go as you are miles from nowhere and you can choose not to see another soul if you so wish. The retreat and the staff are amazing, you can have food delivered to your cabin and its true gourmet delicious food.||||Please forest Holidays, change the furniture, you've not done so in 6 years. Sadly I won't be coming again until I know you've made changes.

Very happy with the accommodation, even if some parts of it were a little tired and dusty. The shower room needs a non-slip mat too!
Other than that I cant complain, it was comfortable and warm (once we figured out how to use the heating system) and the hot tub was VERY welcome after a day out walking in the cold! The cabin looked out over a small brook and a large forest which was peaceful at night and MOST of the day.
The area is lovely, close to lots of great sights in Cornwall so made the perfect "base" to set out from every morning.
All in all very good, just needs a bit more love in the cabins to get the 5 stars!

We chose this site after going to Forest of Dean last year and loving it. This cabin was nice but tired in decor and repair. The layout was a bit odd the door sliding doors were right behind the sofa so not very accessible. The fire was far too close to the sofa it would have had to of completely blocked the sliding door to use. There were a few cleanliness issues such as dirty grill pan and as covid is still with us it wasn’t cleaned to a high standard. The hot tub was too small should have accommodated 6 people however only four of us could use it at a time which wasn’t good. Unfortunately we will not visit this site again but choose the better appointed lodges elsewhere. It’s a shame.

Having visited Thorpe Forest with the same company earlier in the year we were looking forward to another stay with Forest Holidays. The staff were incredibly helpful and the location is beautiful. We stayed in a Golder Oak cabin, like last time. We knew it would be smaller, however the layout was inferior. Small things were broken/missing and Reception closed early two days so things could not be reported.||||The main gripe was that I went with my two elderly parents and the cabin was not very accessible from the car - we had to go down two set of uneven steps and then an unmade path. This was fine for me, however my parents would have not been able to get their suitcase down it. It would be important for less able people to know that access to some of the cabins is not possible by vehicle and the pathways should be better maintained.||||I like the place and enjoyed the cabin, however compared with the previous trip it was OK rather than great.

Stayed at the Deerpark, Liskeard. And the cabin was amazing, the food at the restaurant was delicious and hot. And the customer service was outstanding. Especially Ollie, Amelia and (maintenance man) Rodger. Nothing was to much trouble. Recommend places to go. Even wrote us a list. And helped us when we got stuck without hesitation. Highly recommend. This places is just beautiful and the team there are just superb. You need a holiday for a break. You need to go here.

Such a nice place. We went in January in freezing (literally) conditions and our stay was cosy and comfortable. We would definitely go again. The hot tub is heated so still fun to use. The log burner is great (but we had trouble with dried logs bought from elsewhere, the ones from deerpark themselves are more expensive but work a lot better). Room service through the TV is cool. The premium WiFi speed isn't super fast (1mbps up and down) but is somewhat nessiasary as there is no phone signal at all in the area. Good for uploading the odd picture, WhatsApp and planning what to do. The entertainment package has plenty of films some older some reasonably new (e.g. Wonder woman) but there are no subtitles available for any of the streaming films. There are ducks, geese and other birds casually around the cabins. Feed for them is available from the shop for 50p and is worth getting. The cabin is really comfy with a really nice aesthetic. The only annoying thing is the hot tub pump, it turns on every few hours to circulate water (?and heat) but it is very audible as it vibrates through the cabin. It woke us up a few times in the night. A minor annoyance not a deal breaker. Overall I'd say it is like staying at a well maintained, more secluded and chilled out center parcs (without the swimming pool/slides). We will probably visit some of the other forest cabin holiday sites in the UK.
