I'm so glad we found The Devonshire Hotel, we were cycling from London to Colchester and had booked an overnight stay. The lovely owner was looking out for us when we arrived, late and soaking wet, he had given us a ground floor room with an area adjacent to safely store our bikes. The owners couldn't have been more helpful. The room itself was perfect, spotlessly clean and very comfortable, we slept very soundly. The breakfast was delicious with both cooked and continental available. The owners provided a gluten free option for me and are very clued up on dietary requirements. We paid ÂŖ135 for our stay which we felt was very reasonable for the comfort and quality on offer.

We stayed at the Devonshire Hotel on 22nd April and stayed in one of the rooms at the back of the hotel, which was great because we came back very late and managed to avoid disturbing other guests. Our room was spacious and the bed really comfortable. There was plenty of storage space and the bathroom although small, was really clean and had an excellent shower. ||We had opted to have breakfast and it was freshly cooked to order and was excellent. There was also plenty of cereal, fruit and yoghurt.||The owners were great, really helpful with directions and local information. Would thoroughly recommend a stay here

I stayed for 5 nights as a solo guest while visiting family in the area. The single room provided everything I required including a hairdryer and iron. The shower was spacious and the single bed extremely comfortable. I could not fault the cooked breakfast served with good quality ingredients and freshly cooked...... delicious. My car was parked safely each night and the location so convenient for central Hornchurch. If I could have stayed longer, I would have hopped on at the tube station nearby and visited some favourite places in central London. Staff were very polite and helpful. I would certainly recommend a stay here.

Our stay in Hornchurch was so that we could attend a family gathering nearby, so we travelled on a Friday, & stayed 2 nights. The hotel was easy to find, & there was adequate parking at the rear. We booked in, & went to our room, which was of a reasonable size. There was a king-sized bed, but, like most hotels, the pillows were of the thin, rubbery type. This is probably due to hygiene considerations. There was a vanity-stool, but no chair, - so you could only sit on the bed. The bathroom was quite small, although the shower was of a good size, & worked well. The WC was squeezed between the basin & the wall, which made paper manoeuvring a bit problematic. Not so great for oldies! The room had one window, which was a sloping skylight. It was openable, but unless you were 6ft tall, you couldn't see out of it. A small tray bore a kettle, two cups & a packet of 3 biscuits, plus sachets of sugar, a couple of sachets of coffee-powder & 4 little milk-pots. We thought that was a bit mean, & were glad we'd brought along some tea-bags & milk of our own. We did ask for a bit of a reload on Saturday, & got 3 more biscuits, plus more sugar (we don't take it in drinks) & a bit more tea/coffee. We are experienced world travellers, & were a little surprised that there was no information in the room either about the hotel, or the wider area. We didn't eat breakfast there, because they charged an additional ÂŖ13-odd per person on top of the room-rate if you wanted it. At just over ÂŖ100 per night for the room, we thought that it was a high charge for what one got. We won't be returning.

The hotel is situated on a main road so when booking I asked for a room at the back of the hotel. They have 5 rooms out the back of the hotel in a separate building which was just ideal. The bed was very comfortable.||||The room was very clean and modern and had everything we needed. It was definitely quiet as well. There is parking at both the front and back of hotel.||||At present no communal room to sit and have breakfast but you can opt to have it in your room. We decided not to as there were no provisions in room to do this i.e. table and chairs and we didn't want to sit on bed and eat breakfast. Although, from what the owner was saying that soon they will have the breakfast room open. There is tea and coffee in the room and this was replenished each day when the room was cleaned.||||We would definitely recommend, it is ideally situated - only a 10 minute walk to the station for commuting into London and only a 10 minute walk to the town centre with shops and restaurants. A good nightly rate too.

Greeted by friendly host and checked in. Ordered a taxi and breakfast for the following morning. The room was lovely, clean and comfortable. After getting ready we went to a family party and then returned to a comfortable bed and a good night sleep. A delicious full English breakfast was delivered to our room at the time requested and a great pot of tea!|Would definitely stay at the Devonshire again.

Stayed for one night in one of the rooms at the back, very quiet, and as we were coming back very late it meant that we didn't disturb anyone Room was very nice, clean with a comfy bed.|The bathroom was bijou, but the shower was really good.|We decided to have breakfast, which was really well cooked, good coffee and juice, but it was a bit difficult to eat sitting on the bed. |Altogether a good stay.

I loved this place. Stayed there in May this year and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Very clean, lovely room. I stayed in the annex. Compact, but never the less perfect. A short walk from Hornchurch station and into the town. Which has an array of cafes, pubs, restaurants and a Sainsburys supermarket. Also has a very good bus service to Romford. Should you want a bigger shopping centre. Btw I didn't have the cooked breakfast. But it looked and smelt delicious 🙂
