Stayed one night with my family(4 people) during the Easter Holiday, room is clean and tidy with just some minor issue in shower room, room size is just perfect and we enjoy our stay after a long day. Negative side is the hotel is far from York station if you could not catch the bus, but the positive side is you could walk along the Old City Wall to Bishopthorpe Road. Good for short stay, recommended for family travel.

Room was clean and warm and comfortable. Innit issue was the toilet didn't flush but as we were only staying one night not a big issue. Great location and very quiet. Helpful staff and very easy check in. Will definitely be back.

There are funded guests there who abuse the fact that they are put up in a guest house, are always under the influence and make constant noise for hours on end, to the point where the police even visited. Even saw them wandering into the neighbours yard out of my window trying to take bikes that were locked up. This place needs seriously sorting out .

Very clean room with everything we needed for a simple overnight stay in York in exactly the right area of the city for us. Slightly disconcerted by not seeing any real people there - but we did manage to telephone when we had questions and get the answers after a short delay.

• Distance from York city centre: 20-min walk
• Location: not sure if it is a main road but it's set back higher than the ground. Just a few mins' walk to a row of bakeries and some general shops

I checked in after 5pm (at 19:30) so for this reason had to use the self check-in service. The self check-in service was completely straightforward and was a smooth process taking a matter of minutes. The communication beforehand was really good, ensuring that everything was in place for our arrival. The room (which was on the ground floor) and bathroom were clean which I was pleased about and the bed was comfortable.

The window wasn't well soundproofed so you could hear outside traffic but it is on what I think is a main road so it's to be expected and, to be fair, the noise of traffic quietened down soon after it got dark so it wasn't a major issue at all.

Plenty of towels provided which was great and there was a soft bench and dresser available which was also nice. The bed was comfortable so me and my 8-year old son (we shared a double bed) slept well. The complimentary tea/coffee, sugar and two bottles of water alongside complimentary shower gel and shampoo & conditioner was a nice addition.

My only gripe is that there is no charging socket near the bed so you have to use either the socket behind the wardrobe or a socket on the extension lead near the dresser. But that certainly wouldn't stop me from staying with Diamonds Guest House again the next time I'm in York! ☺️

Had a great stay here, close to the town, shops and restaurants it’s a great location. Easy check in and Parking outside for £7 a day was such a help as well. Highly recommend

Just got back from a weekend here. We were a stag party and the owner / manager was a lovely guy. Nothing was too much trouble and the rooms were spot on; beds very comfortable. Tea, coffee and water available in the rooms. Plenty of shower gels, shampoos and conditioners. Plenty of towels, additional heaters and a fridge in each rooms and fully shared kitchen facilities.

Perfect distance between York town and the races. All walking distance.

Overall, will definitely recommend.

Nice quite peaceful hotel, clean, friendly and welcoming staff and only a 15-20 min walk into York Town Center.
