My son and I stayed at the Douglas Valley Hotel on 29th July 2015 and found the hotel exceeded our expectations. There was sufficient parking on site. We were given a very large room with 3 beds, a sofa and two TVs. The room was clean, had a good range of furniture and plenty of space. The hotel was within walking distance of shops, pubs, restaurants and take aways in the beautiful village of Parbold. There is a canal within a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. In the morning we were given a large cooked breakfast which was very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this hotel, it was excellent value for money.

We've stayed here a few times now and enjoyed each time. The breakfast was freshly cooked for us (in a spotlessly clean kitchen) and we were given a choice of what and when we wanted it served. Superb! The rooms are more than adequate and the off street parking is great. Good value too. Definitely worth a stay.

Stayed here for two nights also for local wedding. Great location across the road from the railway station & within walking distance of 3 pubs - can recommend the Windmill for food. Ok,so its not 5 star but you're not being charged 5 star prices. The owners were very helpful,even dropping us round to the church. Fantastic breakfast in the mornings & no problems with a late check-out. We would stay here again.

Great value for money. Clean, warm and friendly with a tasty fresh cooked breakfast included. The owner Geoff was exceptionally helpful during my stay. Great location too with frequent trains to southport and manchester on the doorstep. Plenty of places to eat in the local area and good pubs too.

Have stayed here several times the night before an operation at Wrightington Hospital, just a mile or so up the road & each time, because I can't have the breakfast before my op, the hosts have made me something to eat on the night of my arrival to make up for not having the breakfast the following morning! They have gone out of their way to accommodate me & every time, have kindly driven me to the hospital very early in the morning ready for my op at no extra charge! I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough for the spacious rooms & very hospitable hosts who can't do enough for you! The prices are great & you definitely get value for money!

We arrived @ this hotel to attend a wedding in the area, the exterior is very drab needs a good coat of paint new windows and when you went inside the carpets need to be thrown out the are filthy, towels are going grey, the whole hotel needs a good refurbishment. The couple who run it were pleasant enough and the breakfast was good. Would not stay again.

clean room, hotel in a quiet area with plenty of options for evening meals within walking distance. owner is a friendly chap who cooked our breakfast. great value for money. We would stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a budget option in this area.

5 of us stayed with 3 rooms and they were very friendly.|All rooms were clean and roomy; bit dated but they informed us they are selling the main building and it was to be converted back into a semi detached house.|Breakfast was ok, but I'm spoilt with 95% sausage and artisan breads daily so basic ingredients. ||Thanks guys and good luck with downsizing.
