Wow, what can I say about The Dower House Hotel that hasn't already been said! We had our beautiful wedding there on December 6, 2024, and everything was amazing. All the staff went above and beyond for us. The food was simply the best. Our bedroom was amazing, and a massive thank you to Jade and the staff for making it perfect. I have never seen such a beautiful venue, and all of our guests were in love, too. It makes it even better that we had asked for all the Christmas decorations to be up (if possible), and it was just beautiful. Well done to all who work there! I will be forever singing your praises.

Highly recommend for any wedding, party, or simply a beautiful meal. It won't disappoint you at all. Worth every penny and more.

Lovely atmosphere. Warm and friendly staff. Amazing lunch time trade .. made me feel like a youngster .. enthusiastic coffee and cake eating! Pleasant dinner .. good service. Comfortable room .. good parking.

We booked 2 rooms to stay at the hotel and a private dining room for a family meal. The rooms were very comfortable and well maintained. The private dining room was very good and both the food and service were excellent. We spent the evening in the hotel bar which had an open fire which was great. The staff were all very helpful and even when we arrived past closing time for breakfast, they still let us in and served us all a full cooked breakfast. Very enjoyable stay

My son had his wedding reception here and many in the party booked rooms. I stayed in room 17 at the lodge. The rooms were very comfortable and well equipped with fan/iron and board/additional heater/toiletries, kettle, tea etc..
We had the use of a downstairs room for the bridesmaids to get ready. This was a great idea. Breakfast is greatly, made to order on Saturday but buffet style on Sunday
All staff were really helpful and professional, we felt really looked after. The standards are high here but we had a great time. Highly recommended thank you

Welcoming check in experience. Lovely large room in the annexe with many extras. Bed extremely comfortable.|Attentive staff in Harry’s bar which has a log fire and provides a welcome respite from the cold damp winter weather. Bar snacks and drinks available as well as dinner if required.|Easy access to the shops , golf club,Tea House and Kinema all within walking distance . Also easy access to a lovely walk along the disused railway.|Breakfast was good but would be improved with more choice for those not wanting a cooked breakfast.

Enjoyed our first Sunday lunch for husbands birthday today, the best we have ever tasted and enjoyed, highly recommend, superbly presented with the most delicious flavours and very plentiful too. Wonderful service too. Sitting by the fire in Harry's (dog friendly) bar is such a delight too. Such a decadent place.

We arrived and there was a very welcoming man who booked us in. Our room, although tidy, had peeling wallpaper (looked like a damp issue), a broken window and one curtain coming off the rail. No pen to fill in the comment card, and was heated to maximum temperature when we arrived. The bed was very good and comfortable, bathroom and shower were lovely.
Breakfast was mediocre; severely overcooked poached eggs. Cups and glasses were all tiny. Cooked breakfast included bacon that was overdone and hard to cut. Breakfast room was very cold; the waitress agreed with a nearby customer, without doing anything about it.
The reception area is never staffed; so the customer has to wander around looking for assistance. We did find 4 staff members in the bar area having a chat. On the plus side, the cleaning staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Would we stay again? Quite an expensive hotel for what you actually get for your money.

Very variable. Characterful dining room, bar and lounge. Lovely bedroom but the chairs were falling apart at the seams. The food and drink staff seemed lovely, particularly the breakfast staff. The service elsewhere was great one minute and quite poor the next. Complained that our room hadn't been made up at all one day and although we got an apology it didn't seem sincere and I asked for fresh towels at the same time which never arrived. The food was good but not great Could be so lovely, but just missed.
