We didn’t realise this hotel had gone into receivership when we booked. That said, it was a perfectly pleasant stay. The staff are very nice and accommodating, the room was lovely and it was very clean. The food was limited and varied in quality. For dinner, the mushrooms were a tiny portion but tasted very nice. The ravioli was fine and a large portion. The breakfast had a limited range of food. Some of it was nice, like the pastries, but the fruit was still frozen and the cooked breakfast did not feel like high quality ingredients. ||The hotel overlooks the village square and has ample parking. The room itself was large and the shower room very clean and spacious. There is also a lovely courtyard in the centre. It’s just personal taste, but I find the black/grey/white decor a bit jarring in a highland village but despite that it was clean, warm and spacious and we really enjoyed the visit. The staff could not have been lovelier.

Had a 2 night stay at the weekend, they upgraded us to a huge room on the ground floor at no extra cost, my husband is disabled, a ramp was in place to enter the bar and restaurant area, nothing was too much bother, the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The food was so tasty, I had the Caledonian chicken, my husband had the cod fish cakes. We both enjoyed them so much we had them again the next night, compliments to the chef. The full Scottish breakfast was huge, and tasted delicious, definitely not skimping on the portions, we had extra pot of tea and a mini Danish to finish. I would like to support this hotel, they are doing their best while being in administration. We will certainly be back. 10 out of 10.

Firstly I did not realise the hotel was in administration when I booked. I was advised at check out after my own observation on staffing levels that this was the case. I was advised it was on the website, which I had to scroll down to see so not obvious for customers to make an informed decision or not. ||I would like to thank Nicola, who single handed seems to be running the show. Very friendly and helpful and dealt with my complaint very well. Despite only being there around 3 weeks she did what she could to be help and was very professional. Someone they want to hold onto! ||Positives, lovely building quality refurb and good sized rooms. On arrival check in was swift and we were even shown to our room personally by Nicola a lovely touch. There was no one on hand to help with our luggage no concierge which for a 5* I thought was missing..albeit we didn’t need one, other might as there was steep stairs to the upper level. ||Our room was on the ground floor with view of the cars/car park. Whilst this was ok for one night any longer I would have wanted a room with a view. ||Room itself was well turned out. Large kingsize bed, zip&link but still very comfortable. Good bed linen. Room had everything you needed kettle, coffee machine, iron, hairdryer and safe. Small 2 seat sofa but apple in front of the TV so nice to sit and relax. ||We had a big bleach stain on the carpet which was somewhat disappointing and whilst it did not affect our stay I would suggest attention detail should repair this. Shower room was large and ample for 1/2 nights, if I was staying longer and done alot of walking I may fancy taking a bath soak so be mindful of this if your booking as no bath. Plenty of towels. Toiletries cheap and limited not what I would expect from a 5*.. should have had Highland Soap Company or Arran Cosmetics.. again maybe pointing to being in administration…,||I had pre booked a table for dinner for 730 that evening. We decided to go for pre dinner drinks at 715, and were greeted by a pleasant but fairly nervous young man. I mentioned we had a table booked for 730 and could we see the dinner menu whilst we had our drinks. He gave us a copy of the menu but went onto say that we must go for our table at 730 which seemed odd as it didn’t seem that busy, that said there was 2 other couples who were told it would be at least 30 mins for one and an hour for the other to be seated! I have eaten in enough hotels to realise that this was about staffing levels and maybe only having one chef on..||The hotel restaurant is a long room and whilst perfectly adequate lacked atmosphere. There was no white linen table cloths as per the pictures. Menu was limited, 3 starters, 5 mains and think 4 desserts. On the menu was repeated Ingredients from starter to main. My partner had the haggis Bon Bon’s and I had the mushrooms. Perfectly pleasant but nothing wow. I Had the chicken with haggis and whiskey sauce and mash which was lovely albeit lacked a little sauce. My partner had the ribeye steak. Again very nice but small steak. My partner ordered a peppercorn sauce which they forgot, Nicola saved the day but when the sauce came I had to look for it in the jug.. Ā£4.95 for a spoon fall of sauce was ridiculous and was going to tell them so. ||It was the same chap in the bar who took our food order and there was one other serving member. The restaurant was not busy at best 24/26 covers but again got the impression that there was limited staff which I initially put down to Brexit and staffing levels. ||Dinner was 7/10 but has the potential to be so much more with a wider and more seasonal menus and staffing levels who are trained and not wearing various hats. I got the impression that staff were scared and not allowed to upset the chef if he couldn’t cope with additional numbers.. ||Breakfast was a disaster but I will take responsibility for that as we turned up at 10am as I understood breakfast was on until 1030. We arrived to be seated at exactly 10am but it took the server until 1010 to seat us as he had to set a table. When we finally were seated I asked for a menu and he told us the kitchen was closed and no cooked food! Despite my error on thinking it was1030 I asked if we could even get 2 poached eggs on toast again the fear in his eyes to go and ask the chef! He did duly accommodate my request but when they arrived the eggs were watery and undercooked like the chef had intentionally did that to prove a point of annoyance. ||Breakfast that was left was very poor in my opinion for a 5* hotel.. limited choice and badly set out no labels. Again there did not seem to be anyone overseeing the restaurant or service only one server for breakfast… Coffee was lively though! ||On checkout I made my compliant in the main about the sauce with dinner and my general observation about staffing levels, limited menu and breakfast.. Nicola dealt with my concerns sympathetically and credit my account with the cost of my glass of wine at dinner and explained that due to the administration there has been limited staffing..but new owners have been found and are set to take over soon. ||Overall I was really disappointed given the cost of our stay and that it was a place I wanted to stay for sometime and would have not stayed given the administration as despite their best efforts to maintain standards there are things that are certainly lacking and need address immediately in my opinion. ||The staff are doing the best they can with limited resources something I hope the new owners invest in immediately.

Having previously stayed at this hotel when it first opened we expected more of the same. On the website it makes mention of a 5 star experience. We hadn’t know of the financial problems this hotel was experiencing. The hotel is attractive but doesn’t act anywhere near 5 star. The food was standard fare with a basic breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was no sign of any housekeeping on our visit. The chap on reception got us new towels and kindly tidied our room. We were disappointed. This hotel could be a lot better.

Fantastic fantastic fantastic, I stayed at Dunalastair Hotel at the weekend for 2 night stay with my wife. I was Greeted by manager Aftab Malik, who could not have done any more to make our stay feel very comfortable. The staff were very friendly as well as Aftab. The food was very tasty and the portions were large. Over the years I have stayed at many hotels in the Perthshire area and find the Dunalastair hotel one of the best, modern, and comfortable hotels in the area if not thee best. I have heard the hotel is in administration and feel very sad , but despite of this I cannot find a fault in this modern hotel and the staff, I wish all the best in the future of the hotel and will be staying again in the very near future. Cheers

We booked a one night stay and saw recent reviews so were unsure about our stay but were delighted with our room, the staff were attentive, breakfast was to be continental but we also were offered a full scottish which was excellent. We had dinner which was a limited menu but was also good.Very clean, smart hotel which sadly had only a handful of guests for a Saturday, but we got value for money and they took the weekend supplement off our bill too. We enjoyed our stay , thank you.

Myself and hubby booked here for 2 nights despite its in administration it's a fabulous place , but we were told its been bought over and new owners will take over around July. Breakfast was delicious both mornings, evening menu and bit limited but hopefully that will change once new owners take over , our room was really nice a few minor parts need attention but nothing major , staff are attentive and friendly again due to been in administration there is a limited amount of staff who are going above and beyond ( I hope they are well rewarded for their hard work and commitment during this hard time) the area is so quiet and relaxing and some beautiful walks especially the one to see Loch Rannoch what an absolute amazing must see! Anyway we look forward to returning soon and definitely recommend this amazing place.
