The 4th time I've stayed here. Peaceful, comfy rooms and always excellent service from the lads running it who make you feel really welcome. The shimla restaurant food is fantastic, I'm steadily working my way through their menu.|I've already asked my company to book me back in for June, and I'm looking forward to it.

Walls paper thin between rooms 6 and 5 being able to hear TV and talking which was intrusive.|Rooms at front are subject to road noise until late evening. |Bed mattress is cheap and nasty and only 2 pillows which are unacceptably thin.|Dined in the attached Nepalese restaurant.|Vegetable samosas presented after a long wait and were still frozen in the centre!|The remaining meal was ok, however the wait time was excessive.|If you just want a clean basic stay and don't mind the other issues then it would be ok.|There were toiletries supplied.|Price74 pound per night 2 people.

We had a meal at the Shimla, located inside this hotel last weekend. Nepalese/Indian food - every dish was very tasty. Big portions too - and not overpriced. Very good service by the staff as well - our every request was dealt with quickly and efficiently. Frankly, I'm surprised it wasn't busier - it certainly deserved to be, given this level of quality and service. If you are even half-thinking of going I hope this review convinces you to go - you won't be disappointed!!

Just returned from an overnight with family from this hotel. We were there for a joint 50th celebration and also booked the Shimla restaurant within the hotel for food. The food, service and staff were excellent, they went out of their way to make sure our night was enjoyable one. The accommodation was very good, spacious family rooms and doubles, looked newly refurbished. Beds were comfortable, only one criticism was pillows. I would have no hesitation recommending both hotel and restaurant.

We loved our stay at the Earl David Hotel. The hosts provide simple accomodations. Don't expect anything fancy here. But if you are looking for incredible hospitality, a quiet room, and stunning countryside views from your window, this is the place for you. To add to our experience, the restaurant in the hotel features the best Nepalese food I have ever had. The next time we are in the area we will definitely return.

This is not a fancy, bells and whistles hotels. If that is what you are looking for, go find a cookie cutter room at the travel lodge or pay out the nose closer to Edinburgh. Instead, this hotel is a simple, peaceful space with friendly and kind hosts. My family of four stayed here while visiting the area for six days. The staff was helpful in every possible way. The location is off the beaten path, but you won't find quieter accomodations for miles. The view from our room window looked more like a landscape painting than reality. But our favorite part of this location was the Nepalese restaurant on the main floor. It was the absolute best Nepalese food that we have ever had. Honestly, we would stay here again just to have easy access to the restaurant. The only remotely negative thing I could say is that there was no major grocery stores for a few miles, but I suppose that is also why it was so wonderfully quiet.

Over night stay as we were going to Edinburgh. Room was clean and tidy. Very quiet inside and outside property. Only noise you could hear in room 7 was the noise from the fan, which was switched off about 10pm. TV channels didn't work, the WiFi was sketchy connected then disconnected. So had to use our own internet via hotspot to connect to smart channels. Other than that no problems.

Fantastic venue - good prices, great service and wonderful food.||Parking outside, staff are friendly. Only downside would be that it is an old building so windows are slightly chilly - ask to be seated away from them.||All your typical Indian favourites served with a smile.
