Liked: Really friendly staff, open flat field, able to have a fire. Cars allowed by tents. Value for money
Disliked: No shower blocks, but was clearly advertised and as we stayed just for one night it wasn’t an issue

I stayed at the campsite for a 2 night stop over recently.
I only saw one person during my stay who was the lovely staff member who greeted me (and tried his very best to describe where everything was in the pitch black).
I arrived at around 7pm both nights and left in the morning each day but had the best nights sleep I’ve had in a while! Incredibly peaceful and quiet and no road noise or light pollution.
The campsite is basic but has (nearly) everything you need- compost toilets (very clean), plenty of drinking water taps and a chemical waste disposal, as well as wood and fire starting kits available to buy.
The only thing it’s missing is showers but this is very clearly stated online and I do believe this is reflected in the price.
I had no phone signal at all while on site which is lovely to be able to switch off but definitely worth noting in case this is something you require.
At £8 a night I really can’t fault it for a peaceful stop over to get some well needed rest.
Thanks again, I will absolutely be returning.

Liked: Beautiful basic site. Absolutely recommend this if you want a peaceful, tranquil open space. Just perfect for me. Lovely to have fires .
Welcoming host. Great walks around the area. Good pub locally.
Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: generally peaceful basic site - toilets were clean - polite and helpful owners who are willing to help, we had to leave a day early but that was down to the weather not the site. plenty to do and see around the area, a lovely pub just up the road that does good food. will be going again next year.
Disliked: sounds like hunting dogs barking in early hours of the night which woke me up a couple of times.

Liked: Friendly laid back site, everything you need except a shower (which is exactly as advertised so no issue). It's a large site so can be as sociable or not as you like! I've made a friend each time I've been here - well, got chatting with a random fellow camper which I think is a good sign. Fires are allowed which is great.
Disliked: Compost loos aren't to everyone's taste - also the lights in them are a bit sensitive and don't always come on straight away which is a bit spooky.
There's only one local pub so literally no options if they are closed/busy/having a beer festival and you forgot to buy food, but that's just a generic warning not an issue with the site at all!

Liked: This campsite is local to me and well located.
The second field allows you to have some off lead time for dogs which was great for mine as he loves being off lead and chasing his frisbee.
Nice views and easy to find.
Friendly staff.
Decent amount of water taps dotted about the site.
A good amount of composting toilets which were clean and not smelly.
Disliked: The grass was quite long across the site.
The hounds from a local hunt kennels woke us up very early with lots of barking and howling which was really annoying as it really disturbed my dog.
The doors on the toilets in field two were a bit tricky; firstly myself and other camper couldn't get them open, and once open, they wouldn't lock or stay closed!
Unfortunately I think I got off to a bad start on this site as when I arrived I paid and was told I could pitch anywhere. I didn't want to be too isolated as I am a lone female and wanted to be near the wooded area so I could hang my camping shower from a branch so I decided on a space between two caravans which was plenty big enough for my tent leaving plenty of space on either side. I was then approached by a man from one of the caravans who told me I shouldn't pitch there as the man in the other caravans would want to park his car there. I was a bit puzzled as there was plenty of space in front of the caravans for car parking. I told him that I had been told I could pitch my tent there and he then said it was "campsite politics". I decided to move my tent as I didn't feel comfortable there but in reality I think it had soured my opinion of the site. I ended up leaving a day early as I just didn't feel comfortable after that.

I had heard about this site so thought I'd try it for a 2 night stay. It's cheap and cheerful, no frills which is fine by me. I arrived at the site and checked in at the reception. I was met by a friendly lady who told me where the water taps were, and pointed me in the direction of the composting loo's. She informed me that I was free to choose my own pitch so I had a quick wander around and chose a spot by the woods, which was situated between two caravans. It looked as though people lived in them, or used them as a base to get away when they could, which was fine. As a lone female camper I wanted to be nearer others, but not so close that either them, or me, were intruding. ||The space I chose was suitably big enough for my small tent and the lady on reception had confirmed I could camp there. However, when I was unloading my car I was greeted by a man who presumably lives in one of the caravans, who told me I couldn't pitch there as the guy who lives in the other caravans would want to park his car there. There was plenty of space in front of the vans to park there and I informed him that I had been told I could pitch there. He then muttered something about "campsite politics" and that he shouldn't have said anything. By then my eagerness had soured and I decided to pitch elsewhere on the site, well away from the caravans but I should have gone with my gut feeling and left then and there. ||The site itself is nicely situated and the composting loo's were clean and not as bad I thought they might be, however, the doors didn't open easily, then when opened, wouldn't stay closed when you were inside! ||The grass across the whole site was too long which was a bit of a nuisance. |I did sleep well until the hounds from a local hunt decided to spend a good portion of the very early morning howling and barking. I hadn't known there was a local hunt kennel and the barking really disturbed my dog. ||On the whole, it didn't have that campsite "feel' to it, and actually felt more like a commune which isn't what I was looking for and the initial issues were sadly enough to sour my stay. I left after one night.
