We visited this place for the first time, and our experience was different. We came to this place to get some coffee and breakfast. This place had amazing reviews, so we thought, "Why not try it?" As soon as we walked in, we were shocked by the decoration of this place. Very much Halloween Harry Potter vibes, which we love, so we were sure we would not be disappointed by this place, but... the reality was different. As soon as we walked in, we were told we had to wait 30 minutes because the breakfast menu had finished and lunch would be served by 12. We arrived at 11:30. So we waited and after we tried to order lunch, they said another 30 minutes to wait because they had a busy breakfast and were still cleaning tables. So we waited an hour so we could order some food at this point. After we ordered food, we waited another 30 minutes to get our sandwich order. The sandwiches were okey. Very small portions, Ā£12 each for a small sandwich with a side of vegetables. And after all that, we ordered a sausage roll which came still raw in the middle so we sent it back and did not want it. The staff was very helpful and felt sorry for all that and in the end, gave us a 50% discount on everything from the bill. Everything is overpriced and just with okey food. Hope we just caught them on a bad day but still not sure if we will come back again. Nice place for coffee and Harry Potter lovers but probably not the best place for food. Coffee is very good at this place but served in a cup with no handle which is not the best for a hot drink šŸ˜…
Also try their witches brew which is just bubblegum soda with whipped cream on top, not my favorite. Dog friendly. Left around 2pm and still hungry šŸ˜…šŸ˜†

What a little gem! Always walk by but this is our first time in. As big breakfast people we love finding new places to eat, and this is just great. The menus are exciting, especially the drinks menu! Coming back for them alone. The decor was lovely and fitting what the name. The food was excellent and the team al so nice and engaging. There are some really cool things going on here that you'll find yourself wanting to come back time and time again! Get here ASAP!

Themed cafƩ/bar near the city centre. They've spent a lot of time and effort on the decor and it's effective and atmospheric. Thomas Edison and Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle to the fore, hence the name. They play classical background music. The coffee was excellent. I had a pancake stack which was very good. Mrs A had a bacon and egg brioche which she very much enjoyed. The service was not so great. Opened at 930 according to the website but we had to knock on the door at 935am. Not cheerful or too welcoming considering it's just opened. Food arrived relatively quickly. The large dining space was rather cold. Might be an issue for the elderly. Overall good but with issues.

2 stars because this place has the potential to be great but we had a terribly rude waitress. I couldn’t believe how blatantly rude and cold she was to us when we were just sitting at a table and ordering as a normal group of people would. I worked in restaurants and hospitality for years and this attitude should never be tolerated for any customer service or customer facing job. She was unfriendly from the moment we sat down (there were only 3 of us and we ordered 1 drink and 1 meal each, so nothing overwhelming and the place wasn’t busy). She acted as if it was the biggest inconvenience to her for us to be ordering - I forgot to ask for a side of sausage with my meal and so when she came back to our table a minute later to give us cutlery I said ā€œsorry I forgot I would like to also order a side of sausage and my friend would like one too pleaseā€. She just stared at us and walked away without a word. All three of us looked at each other shocked by her attitude after and said ā€œwow she is so rude and must hate her jobā€. Then she came back to tell me that the sausage wasn’t gluten free so I couldn’t have it (I have an allergy) I said oh ok no worries that’s fine. I went back to the front and checked the menu for what else I may be able to have since she didn’t offer any alternatives - it said sausage was available on all the gluten free options so I was confused. The same waitress was behind the bar at the front (again, it wasn’t busy and there weren’t any other customers she was helping) I went up to clarify if they were sold out or if there was another option - she walked right passed me avoiding eye contact even though it was obvious I was waiting to ask her a question. She completely blanked me acting like I wasn’t there, so I had to follow her and say excuse me to get her to acknowledge me so I could ask about the sausage. She stared at me when I asked and just said ā€œI don’t know maybe it’s the vegetarian oneā€ she didn’t ask if I wanted to order that instead, didn’t ask if I wanted her to check if that was the case with the kitchen, just stared at me with an unsmiling unfriendly cold expression. I just said ā€œoh okā€ because it was extremely uncomfortable being in her presence and I felt like she just wanted me to go away. She walked away without saying anything. She didn’t come to our table at all after that and ignored us the rest of the time we were there. All the other staff in the restaurant seemed very friendly, this woman really ruined the atmosphere and made the experience negative for us. I don’t want to return here now which is a shame due to the unique decor and menu. This waitress wasn’t a teenager either who just has an attitude about working on a weekend - she was a full grown woman maybe in her 40s or 50s with shoulder length dark hair. I hope the manager reads this as I would be quite confident that this is a pattern of behaviour for her and she’s negatively affecting this place of business.

We poppped in with the kids for a coffee and some cakes. I haven’t been in since it was The Cornish store years ago as I am rarely in Truro. I absolutely loved what they have done with the place, the decor is great and the service was fabulous. Very friendly chatty staff who couldn’t do enough to make sure we were happy with everything. The cake and pastries were very tasty and great coffee too. I can’t understand why people continue to frequent soulless mass chains with disgusting coffee like Starbucks and Costa when there are wonderful independent places like this round the corner. Any time I am in Truro I will definitely be back!
