This is a gorgeous victorian hotel, with such beautiful large rooms with original features, and makes a pleasant change from the plain and modern hotels out there.
It felt like a hidden gem with so much character and such beautiful natural grounds. It's hidden away but in a relatively central location of Low Fell in Gateshead and a short ride away from Newcastle.
The staff are also what make this place so special. Everyone we spoke to was so welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was brilliant, with selection of fresh fruit, cereals and juice to start, and a menu to select a hot cooked breakfast.
Finally, our room was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed.

We have stayed here several times over the years and the friendliness of the staff has remained constant. We had a room with a refurbished bathroom which was lovely. It was immaculately clean - and I am fussy - with decent linens and good size towels. The bed was comfy although some of the pillows could do with replacing. The decor in some places could do with touching up but the carpet was very clean too. There was a decent choice at breakfast and the poached eggs on toast were superb. It would be good to offer filter decaf coffee instead of instant. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would happily return. Thank you.

Another great stay - very friendly atmosphere and family feel to the place. As another reviewer has written it feels like you're staying in a home rather than a hotel. We stayed in the apartment which has two bedrooms perfect for the kids going to bed early and having somewhere to sit up rather than all squeezed into one hotel room. 10/10 would recommend and will be back!

Ate in for a change ( weโve been enjoying take out Sunday Lunch pretty much weekly) and it was delicious. |Had the steamed fish and I have to say that the onion cake that came with it was lovely. I could easily eat a plate of that on its own. |The gnocchi with mushrooms was excellent too. Really enjoyed it and the Paris browns in the poached egg and toast starter were really tasty.|Staff are great. Very friendly and welcoming but giving you enough space to enjoy your meal.

This is an Edwardian former large house on converted I to a hote. I cannot comment on the accommodation as I only lunched here.
The villa has many authentic pieces of furniture and tastefully restored decor. It is in a garden setting so is quiet and has good parking. As it is only a short taxi or public transport ride from Newcastle City centre it may be preffered for a lunch meeting for car owners who prefer to avoid the possibility of an expensive parking fee if lunch streches beyond one hour.
It may also be a good place to stay if you are touring the south side of the River Tyne area. It is also a very short ride to the Angel of the North and the Beamish heritage museum.
