Two nights of peace and quiet. Lovely stay, very clean, very comfortable bed in the Castle room and amazing views of Durham. Veggie breakfast was very nice. Location was perfect, a Samuel Smiths pub and Elm tree pub on the way😉 down to Durham. Big thank you to Anna and her team. We will be back. Dave and Natalie

We have stayed here a few times now and never been disappointed. Anna is always very pleasant and accommodating. The breakfast is made to order and very very tasty ! The young man who makes the breakfast ( manages with Anna ) is always very friendly too. It one of the main reason we return, also who wouldn’t want to stay in a beautiful building that’s nearly 200 years old !!

Just stayed overnight in a beautiful quirky attic room with lovely views, comfortable bed, plenty tea/coffee it also had a fridge and microwave. Breakfast was excellent with plenty choices and good quality. There is an Indian restaurant and bar attached with lovely food and friendly staff well worth a vist. The whole hotel is well decorated and spotless and would definitely stay again.

we stayed as a group of friends to celebrate our hubbys joint 60th birthdays. 4 couples with very different rooms. |however ours was fantastic with a king size comfy bed. |it was very clean with toiletries provided in the en suite. |breakfast was fabulous and Anna the manager was so helpful and friendly. |in a very good location for Durham city centre though up hill on the way back which we did manage to walk.||we booked the attached indian to celebrate their birthdays. the food was lovely and the free car park at the property was an added bonus,

Just back from a 2 night stay. Room 7 very spacious, absolutely spotless and had everything we could of needed, both slept very well. Fantastic breakfast with buffet style breakfast options available and cooked options made to order. All ingredients were high quality and we really enjoyed the full English mine which was tweaked to remove the bits I don't eat. We enjoyed a meal at the onsite Indian which has an extensive menu and both dishes we picked were incredible paired with the cocktails smashing meal out and the service was wonderful. The hotel has great views over Durham and its only a short walk into the centre where we enjoyed the cathedral, river walk and meandering through the old streets enjoying bars and cafes. Anna the manager is the hostess with the mostest Nothing was too much trouble and she went above snd beyond to make our stay special. We would definitely book again should we be visiting Durham again. Onside parking is a real bonus and this is included in your stay

Fantastic !!! Anna and Richard are amazing ! Very very friendly, efficient and welcoming. It’s one of the reasons I return to stay there whilst visiting my son, who’s at uni. The building has so much character, being nearly 200 years old. A lot of the rooms have views. Breakfast is delicious and cooked to order. The Indian restaurant offers a two for one offer on cocktails before 6.30. Great way to start your evening !! Keep doing what you’re doing Anna x Richard it’s a thumbs up from me 👍🏻

We stayed for two nights. Room was spacious and warm and cosy. View from window was lovely. Plenty of tea and coffee available. Breakfast was amazing, great choice and quality. Anna ( The Manager) was absolutely brilliant. Nothing wasn't too much touble and she provided lots of information and her local knowledge helped us to plan our day. This guesthouse is a little gem.

Stayed overnight, 25/1/25, twin room number 3. Great size, lovely and clean comfy beds. Service tip top. Breakfast was amazing, everything you could imagine was there, definitely recommend. There's an Indian restaurant attached next door, really nice, friendly staff, chef ect. Great value.
