We have been coming to Fauhope for nearly 20 years and are never disappointed. Sheila and Ian go out of their way to make us feel welcome and part of their family. Food and accommodation are also tip top. Normally we are there for the 7s but even at non 7s time Melrose is a super place to visit. Lots to see and do. Cannot recommend highly enough.

This really is the most wonderful place to stay. From the minute you first have sight of the property to the lovely welcome from your hosts Ian and Sheila you know you are in for a special stay. The rooms are stunning and the breakfast is the best we have ever had anywhere. The location is quiet but well within reach of Melrose by car or walking and also Edinburgh, by car or train. |This place is a gem we will certainly return to.

Fauhope Country House is a beautiful property in a great location. Sheila and Ian were the most kind and genial hosts and made us feel very welcome. We had a lovely room with a huge and very comfortable bed and an excellent view across the garden and beyond. Breakfast was excellent with a range of different options. Eggs Benedict particularly delicious. Good local restaurants close at hand and lots of places to visit. We enjoyed Abbotsford and looking around Melrose. We can definitely recommend a stay here.

We have stayed in many places in this country and abroad but our stay here has to feature as one of the very best. From start to finish we were blown away by the hosts, setting, rooms, breakfast, comfort and quality. What a gem of a place! The hosts were just wonderful, as were their staff. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt like we’d made new friends that would last a lifetime. Our room overlooked the gardens and was so comfortable; kitted out with thoughtful touches for the weary traveller; tea, coffee, bottled water, fruit, a decanter of port, flowers . . . beautiful toiletries and even a variety of painkillers to calm a possible hangover. The bed and bed linen; divine. How could one not have the best nights sleep. And how can I describe our breakfast - we are very fussy when it comes to good quality food but here, no corners were cut. The full range was available with everything beautifully set out and presented. One of the other guests was celebrating a birthday - they were given champagne and so were we - generous to the nth degree.|The house itself is outstanding in character, decor, cleanliness and oozes such positive vibes. We had a wonderful short break at Fauhope. A lovely building furnished beautifully. Rooms were spacious and the en-suite bathroom luxurious. Breakfast was perfect, great choice and quality. Sheila and her team made this a real relaxing, home from home, break.

A delightful country house, set in magnificent, well-kempt grounds, close to Melrose, with some excellent restaurants nearby. On arrival we were warmly greeted and treated to some home-made scones, cake and tea. The whole house is beautifully presented, with some spectacular floral displays and wall hangings. Our bedroom was first class in every respect, comfortable, spotlessly clean, excellently equipped, and with superb rural views. We had not managed to book an evening meal locally online (all showing fully booked), however, Ian managed to get us a reservation at an excellent venue. Breakfast was a feast. Everything was delicious, with choices that would meet every need. At all times Sheila and Ian made us feel most welcome and we thank them most sincerely for making our short time with them an undoubted highlight of our Scottish holiday.

We recently stayed at Fauhope Country House and, from the moment we arrived, Ian and Sheila made our experience unforgettable. From the welcoming afternoon tea, with homemade cakes and scones, to the splendid bedroom, to the excellent breakfast, all the staff at Fauhope went the extra mile and did everything they could, and more, to make our stay special. The house itself is a beautiful country house set in magnificent gardens which we were free to enjoy. We will certainly be back and can’t recommend Fauhope enough
