Brilliant experience at the Fernhill wool school. I learnt so much, great teachers, the most inspiring couple running this incredible eco farm. Sustainability and animal welfare at the heart of what they do, plus then seeing how it goes from field to fibre - loved it. I stayed in Wren cottage in the horseshoe barn. Really quirky and a great place to take your family for a digital free experience near Cheddar. It is a working farm so the driveway is bumpy lol, and as a solar powered farm dress warm in cooler months. Loved every minute - just brilliant - thanks to Jen Andy and the team - AMAZING

About half an hour by taxi from Bristol (£30-50 in a taxi) this is a really unusual event venue. We had our away days here and had amazing catering from Keren and a warm welcome by Jen and Andy who run the place. Jules, the event manager, really helped make sure we had what we needed, including a blazing fire in the yard and extra towels for campers. All the ooms and beds were comfy and characterful, and some even came with cuddly cats. The Horseshoe Barn had loads of space for us to spread out and work or huddle for more intimate chats. We had a great time!

Great country side retreat. Only one weird thing to take into account: in August, cows vanish overnight, replaced by a bunch of tents and lots and lots of weird but kind people. A weird but quite enjoyable background noise can be heard from a distance, mostly during the day tho. Asked the owners about it, they said that it’s related to some kind of mathematicians annual gathering.

Despite the great location, we had serious issues hosting a big birthday party here. Management were away on holiday and left us without a contact and the person they did send to help us was extremely rude to guests and organisers throughout the weekend

Ideal place for purchasing fleece and all things woolly. Home raised beef, lamb and pork. Mutton Club, run once a month in the winter months, is superb. Bring your own booze. Wool classes available. Shearing/open days . NB it’s a working farm so No dogs allowed.
