Was greeted by Sally who was a fabulous hostess throughout our too brief stay. A genuine british B & B at its best. The room was very comfortable and well appointed. Bathroom spotless and good toiletries. The view from the window across the rolling countryside worth waking up early and drawing back the curtains to enjoy while having a cuppa in bed. Breakfast was home produced from owners hens eggs and own honey to compliment cooked breakfast. Beautifully presented in a dining room with tasteful period pieces and quality antique dining setting. All freshly cooked and ample choice. If staying in Chester which is only 15 minutes up the road before you consider one of the big multiples, give this place a definite second look. So glad we found this place......

Where to start, there are so many positive things, and only positive things, to say about this wonderful bed and breakfast accommodation! It’s exceptional and a privilege to stay there, along with being extraordinary value for money. It would be a delight at a higher price.||||Steve and Sally are the kindest hosts. They treat their guests with such kindness and thought. They are professional yet have an easy manner. A cup of tea on arrival, a chat when needed, discretion at other times. Faultless.||||The accommodation: you have not just your spotless and comfortable, modern room with all mod cons, but use of a relaxing and comfortable living room with French doors onto a patio with plants and a view of the Peckforton Hills. Perfect for sitting outside on nice evenings or with your coffee after breakfast. ||||The room: spotless, comfortable, great bed, en suite shower. Just a delight to be in.||||Breakfast: in the pleasant dining room, replete with glass and china and linen, very special. And your choice of hot food after fresh fruit salad and cereals and yoghurt. They can also cater for dietary requirements with advance notice. ||||The setting: just off the A41, on the 41 bus route into Chester, which is largely how I travelled. The bus stops are on the main road, just ask (there’s a pavement on the main road but not on the road the cottage is on, so be careful walking around to the main road). It’s a peaceful setting.||||VFM: fantastic. It would be a wonderful place to stay at 40% more expensive! It’s a testament to Sally and Steve’s good natures that their rates are so fair. ||||Go there and count your blessings.

We took a long weekend away and found this gem, a lovely B&B which is spotlessly clean, with cosy rooms and comfortable beds. Everything you need is provided and a bonus is the comfy lounge for guests use overlooking the Peckforton hills beyond the pretty cottage garden. Our excellent breakfast was perfectly cooked with a good choice, nothing was too much trouble. Sally and Steve are great hosts, they made us feel very welcome, we will definitely be returning.

Absolutely loved this B and B. Sally was the best hostess ever and rest of family lovely. Room very welcoming and comfortable. View across the fields wonderful. All fixtures and fittings of high quality and comfy bed. Breakfast was a special occasion and cooked beautifully. The table was set out as if for a special occasion using period crockery where appropriate. All produce inc. eggs, honey, yoghurt are home produced and other items are of quality. Location relatively easy though Google map spot on and plenty of parking. Only 15 minutes from Chester City centre. If there was ever a reason to stay in a traditional B and B rather than a big multiple this is it ... Thanks for a great stay and look forward to visiting again....

We've stayed at Fernlea Cottage this weekend for a wedding at Peckforton Castle and we couldn't be any happier! Sally and Steve are very welcoming, ready to go the extra mile to help you going around and with all your general enquiries. Rooms are very clean, cosy and you can enjoy a stunning view of the countryside! We had delicious English breakfast cooked with local products, good selection of fruits and lovely amenities in the room too. This place is definitely recommended if you're visiting the area. Thank you Sally & Steve (and Ollie) for taking extra care of us!
