Wonderful stay. Paul and Rachel are the best hosts ever. Couldn’t do enough for us.
Had a superb massage from Rachel. She is a qualified massage therapist with beautiful treatment room overlooking the stunning gardens.
Can’t wait for our next visit.

We arrived on Sunday and were greeted with a warm welcome by Paul. The first thing I noticed were fox ornaments and pictures. Beautiful. He showed us round and carried our bags up. We were in the Spa room. It's lovely, 2 bathrooms, one with a shower and one with a jacuzzi bath. The room was lovely and very clean. We planned to visit Ambleside for tea so my partner went and asked Rachel if she had any suggestions and she was very helpful. We ordered a taxi but it didn't turn up. We tried Uber but no luck. Paul asked if we were ok and straight away offered to drive us to Ambleside! Paul and Rachel go above and beyond to make guests welcome. Next morning we went for our breakfast which we chose the night before. Everything was so nice. Real tea, food freshly cooked. After a day out walking and exploring we enjoyed a couple of hours in our room relaxing. The beds were very comfy. We had a lovely stay here and would love to go back. I imagine it's even more lovely in spring and summer.

Beautiful country house in a most picturesque setting. Large, well-kept gardens with plenty of areas to sit and enjoy the stunning scenery. Rooms are clean, well-appointed and spacious. Rachel and Paul are the most thoughtful of hosts and work very hard to ensure their guests have the best experience, including preparing rather fabulous breakfasts! With direct access onto Loughrigg Fell and an easy stroll into Ambleside, this is a real gem.

Beautiful guest house, in a fantastic setting. Paul and Rachel are so friendly and can't do enough for you. If you think there's anything you need it's there for you. Very comfortable spacious room with great views. Home cooked delicious breakfast ordered a day in advance. No complaints at all.

Nice, quiet retreat from the world in a beautiful building. Heaven for stargazers as very little light pollution when the clouds clear. The wonderful hosts made me feel like I was staying with friends. Amazing to be able to walk to both Grasmere and Ambleside. Don’t be surprised by the slight coloration of the tap water; it’s safe and makes excellent tea with the lovely set up provided in your room.

The best b&b country house you could ever wish for. The location, the quality of the bedroom and property, the perfect cooked breakfast every morning, and the helpfulness and friendliness of both Paul and Rachel were just faultless. The hosts make every effort to make your stay wonderful.

Beautiful guesthouse in stunningly peaceful surroundings but within a 20 minute steady riverside walk to Ambleside town. The hosts Paul and Rachel are fantastic! They provided a freshly homecooked breakfast, and made our room up to perfection, each morning. Even the weather was kind us! 😎 Absolutely nothing we could complain about.

Foxghyll country house was a perfect getaway. We were delighted to arrive at such a fabulous b&b in beautiful gardens. The house is full of history and our room was tranquil and we slept so well. The breakfasts set us up for our days of adventure. Ideally located for the lakes and Ambleside. The proprietors were so friendly and helpful. We are looking forward to another visit.
