Decent bakery with nice options, but it didn’t quite live up to the hype. The pastries were fresh and tasty, but I found them slightly overpriced for what they offered. The coffee was good, but not exceptional compared to other local spots. The atmosphere is cozy, though seating can feel a bit cramped during busy times. The staff were polite and friendly which is the best part of our visit.
It’s an okay spot for a quick coffee and pastry, but there’s room for improvement to match the price point.

Gail's I found to sell lovely breads and pastries along with a very good steaming hot oatmilk latte.
To grab a takeaway is probably a better option as inside it's a small area for seating and was noisy and cramped and felt quite manic inside.
The service was good even though it was busy with a big queue..staff members were friendly and polite.
I bought a seeded sourdough loaf which was delicious and was tempted by fresh looking pastries and savoury items.
There is seating outside if you don't mind being on the pavement or alongside busy shoppers passing by.

Foods amazing and staff are so friendly and welcoming, the Matcha is the best in Chelmsford- extra shot.The carrot cake is one the best I’ve ever had, soft and fluffy. The cream cheese frosting is everything!!! If you’re a fussy cake lover this is for you Take all my money !!!! ☺️

While it might not be the most budget-friendly option, the quality and ambiance make it a worth visiting. The café exudes a modern yet warm vibe, making it a comfortable space for casual meetups or solo coffee breaks.

Very busy! Very Good!

A great addition to Chelmsford city centre. Charming and Bustling. Of the two times I have visited so far, The service has been impeccable, and the quality of products has been great! I believe there is still some week old sourdough sitting in the larder.

Do be warned however, it is quite a small space. Tables are few and far between, and they are the perfect size for small rodents and other vermin. That being said though, I just about managed to fit my laptop on.

The food and drink at this café are truly exceptional; the flavors are outstanding, making it one of the best coffee places. However, my experience was marred by the staff's demeanor. Instead of a warm atmosphere, I encountered rudeness that was surprising. The staff seemed unapproachable, displaying poor manners and a lack of enthusiasm. Their negative attitudes really detracted from what could have been a perfect outing. It's a shame that such a fantastic menu is overshadowed by the team's behavior. I hope they can improve on this aspect because the potential for greatness is definitely there.

Very good choice of sandwiches and pastries etc, tasted great and seemed fresh. I'm not a coffee expert but it tasted like good coffee. Loaves looked good. The only issue is the price, £35 for 2 coffees, 2 sandwiches, a cupcake and a cookie. Enjoyed the food, but a bit steep for Chelmsford high street.

I just had the nicest of experiences at the Chelmsford Gail's, which is by the way my favourite place for coffee. The barista spilled my coffee in front of me, transferred the remained in a new cup and when I asked for a new coffee, not only she showed her dissatisfaction she also BURNT the new one! How is this acceptable? Well done Gail's.
