Faultless service!

I am a regular visitor to this lovely bakery with friends. The pastries are delicious and the staff always very friendly and welcoming.

I wanted to say a very big thank you to Harriet who was so kind this morning. I had Being in to buy something and when I arrived at another shop I realised that I didn’t have my bank card with me and thought I must’ve left it at Gail’s. She went well above and beyond by going out & retracing my footsteps in order to help me find it. Thank you so much, Harriet - you were a complete star!!

Disappointing Experience – Hair in Our Food!

While the sandwiches were decent, our visit was completely ruined when we found a hair embedded in the dough of our cinnamon bun. We did return it and were given a replacement, but the explanation we received was unacceptable: We don’t have anyone in the kitchen with long hair it must be from the girls serving.

First of all, that’s "not" a proper excuse hygiene should be a priority regardless of hair length. Secondly, if the hair was truly from a server, why was it baked into the bun? That suggests it was there before baking, meaning proper food handling procedures weren’t followed.

This kind of carelessness is unacceptable! in any food establishment. We expected better, especially after paying for what should have been a pleasant meal. Won’t be rushing back anytime soon.

We went here for lunch yesterday. The food was good but unfortunately because they were severely understaffed it hindered the experience. Almost all the tables & chairs were dirty with old food & wrappers, general cleanliness severely lacked and we were not able to use cups, plates or cutlery because they were only doing takeaway that day - though nobody told us this until after we had paid for our food & then received it in takeaway bags. This made it awkward to eat the food. Not the staffs fault, but clearly this branch needs better management, as this is not the experience you expect from somewhere like Gail’s.

Gail's is located in the heart of Sevenoaks. It's a great place to people watch. I was maybe 4th in queue to get served. I felt that the staff was a little stressed. It was difficult at first to know what was happening. I placed my order with a cup of tea. I didn't realise that someone would be preparing my tea and that there was a queue for that as well. So, in principle, you have to wait twice once you've ordered.

Great place to grab a bite and coffee. Sweets and pastries are lovely. Had the Almond double baked croissants and Sea Salt Caramel Banana Pecan cake - very good. Love the vibe.

Gail's is so overpriced for what you get that we don't visit as much as we did before as we'd rather get better value for money from other coffee shops and independent businesses.
Over £4 for a cherry/chocolate scone is shocking especially when we've had a large slice of homemade cake for less money elsewhere.
Tables/floor are often dirty and we've had to wipe the table ourselves.
One reward per visit now rather than one per drink as it used to be so if you're buying for two or more you're getting the same reward as someone buying one drink. Really?
Staff are usually friendly and my partner loves the sausage rolls but overall it's not good value for money and we'd rather go elsewhere.

Food is good as always although very overpriced which I accept. The problem is how clean the place is, uncollected cups, plates packaging. Tables need cleaning, asked for ours to be cleaned but no one arrived to clean the table. This lets the standards down and makes you feel unwelcome.
