We booked this accommodation through the airBNB website. We were so disappointed by this property we decided to leave and stay elsewhere - I agree with the host that this is not a boutique hotel - and whilst their charges are lower than some locally - I don't believe the costs constitute value for money given the quality on offer when compared with other 'shared' accommodation. ||||Our principle concern and main reason for leaving without staying overnight was that this property is listed as "entire house" when in fact it is part of the hosts property. Whilst there is a private entrance door, there are access doors into the accommodation on both floors with no way of securing them from the guest's perspective. The hosts can therefore come and go as they please (they assure me they wouldn't, but we have no way of knowing this). The listing also doesn't make clear that you only have access to rooms as deemed necessary by the host. We had planned to stay with our young child but were only allocated one room, we discovered later that had we wanted access to the second room we would have needed to pay extra for this. ||||The "kitchen" is simply a sink and fridge with the smallest amount of milk left for tea/coffee. Finally, we were informed that a cot would be available on arrival. This was well over 60 years old and falling apart (the host suggested that he would need to put a nail in to secure it the next morning) - if you decide to stay here with a small child, please take your own travel cot, despite the hosts protests to the contrary I consider the cot offered to be dangerous. If you are looking for somewhere basic to sleep then I'm certain this will be adequate for your needs, I can't comment on breakfast but a good range of cereals were available and I'm sure it was fine. ||||On the whole I do not consider this property to represent good value for money.

Host was fantastic during our stay and catered so well for our food allergies. However property was very old with holes in curtains and wall paper peeling off. If you like modern, crisp and fresh this is definitely not the place to stay. Dogs are able to stay in property, unfortunately previous occupants dog did leave a small parcel on the carpet, which was removed immediately when we reported it to host. Breakfast was very nice.

We travelled to Bristol from New Zealand for a family wedding. After the hustle and bustle of London and Paris Gatcombe Court was an opportunity to relax and recharge in the country, while only being a 15 minute bus ride (from the gate) into Bristol. We were looked after amazingly well by David and Bridget. Their breakfasts were amazing, the freshly picked produce and home made jams were delicious, and they are happy to help with any assistance or advice you may require. Nothing is too much trouble. If we ever get back to Bristol we would definitely stay again.

If you are looking for an ideal home or lap of luxury experience, this is not the place for you. The cottage is a step back in time to the 60s and 70s and most of the furniture is very dated. The double bed is home made and small and the bathroom not appropriate for a£150 a night B and B. Minor things like unmatched curtains in a window where one was way wider than the other and a rug rather than carpet covering bare boards all contributed to a disappointing experience. Downstairs rooms feel damp. Having said all of that, the hosts are very welcoming and the breakfast wholesome and plentiful.

Located in an ancient house dating back to the 12th century, this B & B offers a separate, cosily decorated appartment in beatiful, rural surroundings around 20 minutes outside the city centre of Bristol. Excellent hosts with high-quality local/self-produced food and great hospitality. Due to the time of year I could not check out the swimming pool or get a full impression of the nature in the area, but it looked promising, even in December Highly recommended for families and couples or friends that want to chill out in a peaceful setting quite near to a large and noisy city. Dont forget to check out the dining in the nearby village!

A hidden gem indeed, only 4 miles from Bristol city centre and ideal for visiting the Balloon Festival especially when the weather causes chaos. Such a calm and relaxing venue in beautiful surroundings and brilliantly attentive hosts. Stunning breakfast with their own apple juice as the 'icing on the cake '. If you want the sterility of a Travel lodge go there, if you want genuine British quality and hospitality try Gatcombe Court.

I do not understand how previous reviewers can moan about the decor after experiencing this special little place. Its like saying a beautiful woman is ugly because her mascara is smudged! You are not far out of town but also in the midst of the countryside and have use of a small, bijou cottage for the price of a medium grade, faceless hotel. My family stayed for 3 nights and felt as if we had been warmly welcomed and really well looked after and with two teenagers in tow, we had enough space to feel at home while keeping them close at hand. Usually when we stay in hotels we find we are all crammed into one room or in two rooms quite a distance away from each other, neither of which is ideal. Highlights were my animal loving daughter's delight at getting to know the family pets, a lovely breakfast with a really personal touch in a private setting, the heated pool and feeling able to welcome other family members to come and share in the experience. It was a great pleasure to meet and converse with Bridget and David and I would return and build a holiday around this place in future, rather than planning activities and then simply picking accomadation nearby.

Located on the grounds of a lovely listed manor house, this B&B is a quaint furnished annex off the main house. The annex contains a small dining /sitting room area, a small kitchen and upstairs a bathroom with separate shower and bath and master bedroom (with a double and king single bed). The annex has its own set of dishes, cutlery and microwave. There is a bookcase with a selection of books and some toy cars and blocks for children. There is also a pool that is open for guests to use.||||The location of the B&B is great for exploring the outskirts of Bristol with such attractions such as Tyntesfield and Oakham Treasures. The location of the B&B is right next to a farm shop/restaurant across from a menagerie of farm animals in a paddock.||||I went there due to the amazing reviews on Trip Advisor but I was sorely disappointed once I arrived. I found the annex downstairs to be tired looking and dingy (please refer to photos). One of the arm chairs looked quite worn, dirty looking and in need of reupholstery. The upstairs bedroom also had a strange sour smell. The shower has very weak flow rate.||||The annex wasn't as quiet and peaceful as expected as throughout the day there were people walking about tending to the vegetable allotments on the property grounds and there are 2 cottages directly across from the annex with people coming in and out. I assume these are rental accommodations. The wifi signal was very weak and intermittent - basically you could only pick up a signal in one corner of the living room or stand outside. ||||All in all this B&B was OK if your intent is to be out and about exploring the out skirts of Bristol with perhaps a need for space (there are 2 bedrooms), not if you wanted to spend much time relaxing in the annex itself. My only regret is that for the sizeable amount I paid to stay here I could of stayed at the much nicer 4 star B&B 'The Battleaxes' which was just around the corner.
