We were not Gateley’s direct clients - they acted for our vendors solicitors - but their mistakes had a serious impact on us as buyers.

Our purchase fell through because Gateley’s failed to register their clients title at the Land Registry (seems to be a running theme reading other reviews). Their oversight caused unnecessary delays. They also lost key documents, which meant a real risk of only getting possessory title. We were out of pocket by hundreds of pounds and they refused to take responsibility or reimburse us. Would not trust them with conveyancing.

Having them involved in our chain caused our whole experience to be stressful, expensive and disruptive to our whole family. We will not enter into purchases in future if Gateleys are involved in the chain.

I do not recommend this law firm and they act in the best interest of property agents/developers instead of their clients.

In my case (as a property seller), they did not release the fund on the completion date just because they needed to double check with JLL if JLL had given me a discount on commission fee. Whether this is the law firm's duty to safeguard the income of the agent, this should have done at the beginning of the process not on the completion date.
