The cast of Limelight Performers production of A Grand Night for Singing has been using the room upstairs at Geek Retreat for rehearsals.
A big shout-out to everyone there for making us so welcome, we really feel like we belong. We are loving our rehearsals and our 'Milkshake Mondays' there.
Thank you!!

Reviewing from the perspective of someone who frequents Board Game Cafes. There may be other elements of visiting this place that are more relevant and beneficial for other patrons.

We came for a day out to have some lunch, drinks, and play board games. Nice little place, the food is really cheap and good quality too. Portions are on the smaller side but it didn't bother us for the price. What is also nice is there is no additional charge to play board games, just as long as you have some food, it's covered.

The game selection is quite minimal, downstairs you'll find a lot of family classics, upstairs there's a small selection of options you might find unique if you're inexperienced, but of the 3 we played, all seemed to be kept in good quality which is nice to see.

There was a steady buzz of atmosphere the whole time we were there (6ish hours) which was good to see. In the evening, we were caught up in a Pokémon tournament around us. I didn't much appreciate the organisers shouting instructions right next to our table whilst we were trying to have our own fun, but I understand we were probably taking up their usual space, and not vice versa.

Friendly staff who outlined everything clearly for us as first time visitors and an overall warm welcome.

Have been here once before with a friend and had a great time, good choice of games and reasonably priced drinks. Although the communication is pretty poor in my opinion. I tried calling 3 times over 2 days, during opening hours with no answer or way to leave a message. Messages on instagram also went unanswered. My friend managed to get a response a few weeks ago to book a table for today (sunday) at 2pm. She tried to re-check it was still all okay last week but no response. She arrive first to be told there are no available tables and we needed to pay a £10 deposit...nothing was mentioned when she had confirmation. Very frustrated! It's a fab place but not the great customer service.

We managed to get to the store for the first time today. Mouse (my daughter) loved the Lego and we played a card game called Dino Dump.
A cup of tea was pleasant and refreshing.
Then onto the video game console to play Mario kart.
The shop is both tidy and friendly in appearance.
Gaming space seems plentiful and spacious.
The staff are welcoming, helpful and presented smartly in their purple colours.
Can't recommend enough after a first visit.
Well done Geek Retreat Ipswich.

My husband and I haven't stopped talking about our experience playing a DnD one shot yesterday at Geek Retreat Ipswich with Resident Geek Ben.
He is a very passionate but patient DM, especially as it was only our second foray into the DnD world. We were made to feel so comfortable and loved the level of detail Ben went to.
We were a wonderfully weird mismatch of adventurers, but it worked really well and we can't wait to come back again - could've easily carried on playing for another couple of hours!
Thank you again to Ben and Geek Retreat Ipswich for making a great day for our anniversary! x
