Finding Balance

First time at the Golden Lion and it will not be the last. In a central location within walking distance from local parking, it's in a prime location. The decor is country classic and very welcoming, the fire added to the ambience on a cold January day. We were greeted by friendly staff and got to select our table. We sat right next to the fireplace. The menu was pub classics, reasonably priced and not too much choice so that it was overwhelming. Being Friday, we opted for fish and chips. The food arrived piping hot and was delicious. Washed down with local ale, it was lovely. Portions are quite large (for us) and we felt awful leaving quite a bit. Toilets clean and overall spotless pub. Free WiFi (just ask for the password). Very helpful, friendly and polite staff (and owners). Next time we will leave more room and have dessert too.

We booked a table for lunch with friends after a post Christmas Walk up to Aydon Castle. We walked more quickly than we thought, and rang the Golden Lion to ask if it was possible to arrive earlier...nothing was a problem. Lovely atmosphere. All staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our 'gluten free' friend was well looked after (including a gluten free mince pie with her mulled vine). Food was delicious. Would highly recommend.

Stopped into the golden lion by chance after a walk and we were so glad we did. The steak we both had was absolutely incredible, one of the best we have had. Coffee is absolutely delicious. The charm of the place is next to none, with plenty of dining space and delicious specials on offer also. Dogs are also welcome which is always a plus. The real reason that made me absolutely have to write a review was the service. Some people you get served by and you can tell they love their job and are just individuals who are genuinely nice and helpful people. The girly pops who served us were so sweet and it really makes a difference. Can’t recommend enough, you have to stop by!! Thanks again girlies x

Stayed just the one night and for dinner. The landlord and wider staff / family were most hospitable. The room was bright and roomy with a comfortable bed and large fluffy towel. The shower was hot and powerful. Breakfast was tasty and flavours of the north , curly sausage , black pudding, the works. Dinner was so nice the beef mash and gravy so good. I went for cray fish cocktail which again was well presented and seasoned well. I’ll definitely be staying again and for our guys on business in the area they will be staying there every time.

What can i say ! We had an absolutely fantastic time at the Golden Lion. As soon as we walked through the door , we felt welcomed. The food was brilliant , rooms clean and nothing was too much trouble. The landlord has a brilliant sense of humour. We only stayed for two nights but felt like part of the family when we left. We will definitely return. |Corbridge is a lovely place to stay .

What a difference Adrian, Pam, Daniel and Lauren have made to the Lion.
We've had several meals there since they took over and the food has been truly excellent.
The place feels local, comfy and homely and the service from Adrian, Pam and Lauren is perfect, not in your face, just friendly and relaxed.
As for Daniel in the kitchen, Wow!!
The food he produces and the presentation of that food is absolutely first class. Local produce (including Adrian's own asparagus 😀) is used and the standard menu is also complemented with a 'specials' menu so there's great choice.
We dined there last night and for the first time ever for me in a restaurant there were four items on the starter section that I could happily have chosen. Normally it's one or two.
In the end I went for the brown crab on toast which was amazing. To show what I mean about Daniel's presentation I've attached a photo.
We're so lucky to live in Corbridge and even more lucky to have the Golden Lion just down the road.
We'll definitely be regulars.

We called in today and enjoyed a delicious late Sunday lunch. Both roasts were lovely, served with a great selection of vegetables which were perfectly cooked. The staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome. The pub is very dog friendly.

So popped in for meal with the family, not local people but a warm welcome by the hosts. Loved the menu and the food was amazing. Particularly the steak when the owner said I would not need a peppercorn sauce, Oh my he was so right, 😋 my mission is to find out where he gets his steaks from wink wink.
