Stayed and played golf here 21/07/2024 and 22/07/2024, and was very impressed with the hotel and golf course.
We had a minor mishap with our booking (someone was already in our room), but it was sorted with efficiency and a minimum of fuss. And, our rooms upgrade was wonderful.
The golf course is a lovely course, some tough holes, but not too tough for the range of golfers in our society.
Jamie in the pro shop, was top notch and couldn't do enough for us.
The young people behind the bar and in the kitchen worked tirelessly to ensure that we enjoyed our stay.
Overall, a most agreeable couple of days, so thanks to everyone at Aldwark Manor Estate.

Went to play golf in May advised DAY WE ARRIVED that 5 holes closed and some temp greens & tee boxes. We made it clear that was poor service. They compensated giving us discounted room in September - only to cancel 12 days beforehand - clearly dynamic pricing and better off.
Claimed a member of the group had been "abusive" in May. All retired gentleman that I have known 45+ years and in no way are they are abusive.
If this was the position, why offer cheaper rooms and why wait over three months to cancel.
Asking around, they do this often even canceling a wedding as got a better offer for rooms.
Never be competition for other 5 star hotels. We were think of booking foe a couples weekend (six couples) but how can you possibly plan if this is how shoddy they are.
Avoid or you could simply be cancelled. Even after the palaver they sent letters confirming booking to half the party.

The golf course was very nice, but very tough due to the rough. It was so tall that a ball could roll into it by an inch and it was gone! I’m not talking the 1-2 foot tall rough away from the fairways, I’m talking the 4 to 5 inch rough next to the fairway and greens. The greens were very good. Jamie, the manager, was friendly and top notch! Will play again, but hope they can cut the rough a bit more civilized in the future.

Aldwark Manor.
We came as a group of 48 on a golf trip.
The hotel is very nice. Service is top-notch. Rooms are nice modern clean and comfortable. Can not fault the hotel rooms and staff.
The food was a little disappointing in the evening. Our group opted for the BBQ, and it rained a little, but we had room inside, no problem there. But the food was a little disappointing . Burgers sausage salad etc good options. It just wasn't great. I expected better.
Breakfast was a buffet, and the only letdown here was the food temperature.
GOLF COURSE
This was the big disappointment of the weekend. The course just isn't up to what you expect on these trips. It looks like they are in the middle of a revamp. No ones GPS worked as the new layout wasn't mapped. Some greens were hard some soft some bare of grass some scalpt patches . Not great. Our group has Handicaps from 2 to 28. Everyone had something to say about the greens. The rest of the course is generally OK. There are some new holes that need to mature a few fairways that seemed harder than concrete. There are lots of GUR places around the course. Like I said, they're doing some work, and in a few years, this place will be great, I have no doubt.

this is not a review about the hotel/ manor just the golf course. The greens are the worst ive ever played on.avoid!! i played as part of a team of 12 of us and with the location, money we paid expectations were high.ive no complaints about the fairway, rough, bunkers etc but the greens were atrocious.im a member of bridlington g.c. and play many events throughout the year at various places and these are the worst greens ive come across.i dont usually put reviews on but there was alot of money thrown at this place(inc.£40 buggy fees) and to have it in this condition is unacceptable .the following pics were taken on the final hole the 18th on 05/09/24.others even the practise green are in a similar condition.its early september so no excuses really for the time of year.

Hotel great
Golf course the worst I’ve ever played.
Winter greens x4 and regular greens of similar standard. Fairways not cut . First cut rough very heavy second cut unplayable. Loosing countless balls just off fairway. Layout rubbish just a really poor course.
When you bring it up with pro you get an arrogant pro asking what do you want me to do about it. Very defensive not listening. Said they’d look to do something. They didn’t. A poor experience and even if the course had been in better nik not worth a visit for golf.
Hotel great
Golf AVOID

Disgusting and incompetent management. They withdrew their offer only days before we were due to visit for a second time, after an unsatisfactory visit the first time. Lovely hotel and course but really poor management who have gone back on their word. Totally untrustworthy.

Unfortunately, this course still isn’t up to the standard to charge what they charge to play here.
Holes closed - temp greens and very poor putting surfaces. Not sure the staff are qualified green keepers - standard of landscaping and mowing very poor. Due to the location and with River Ure running through it, there’s always a chance of water logging. 3rd time of playing here and it’s got worse each time. Don’t think I’ll play here again - there’s loads of other courses nearby a lot cheaper - that are fully open green keepers keeping them in tact and playable at all times. Disappointed - very much so, as I paid full price to play - realistically 6 good (ish) holes 5,6,7,15,16,17 out of 18 played - 4 closed, 4 temp greens. Sadly Aldwark is not on the golf list anymore.
