We stayed next door to Monk Bar gate at the Botham Suite for 3 nights and enjoyed the spacious apartment a lot. Comfortable bed, convenient bathroom and kitchen, well furbished front room and large private terrace with an ashtray. Location is top, with access to the city walls on the doorstep and short walking distances to pubs, eateries and major sites, peaceful at night. Very friendly and efficient receptionist. Would definitely stay there again.||If any, it's only minor points: the rain shower head could be cleaned, the bed sheet cover is a bit too small for the comfortable bed, and the water tab in the kitchen was leaking at the base.

Perfect location and very clean very well furnished 10 out of 10, right in the centre of York inside the walls, all the shops, pubs and York Cathedral all within walking distance.||Feels like home from home, various apartments available, i stayed in an apartment with large outside seating area with table and chairs and very private. Lovely sun trap and outside eating area

NOT 4 star nor is it luxurious. We arrived after reception had closed and so collected the key from their self check-in box. As soon as opened the door to the communal hallway we were hit by a very strong smell of sewage. That was just the beginning of a very dissapointing stay. Once in the apartment within minutes you could tell it was not clean. Dusty, dirty overall filthy. Black hairs found on the duvets, carpet, bed frame, sofa bed and fridge (which was broken at the bottom). Stains to the duvets and old tea towel. Linen old, worn and duvet covers missing buttons so the duvets no longer fit and are coming out at the end. After noticing this I checked the bed frame (lifting up the mattress) and I literally gagged, the head end was disgusting (please see pics), I can only presume the dirt is a combination of previous visitors ...... hair, nails and dead skin. The back of the bed was also dirty and dusty and underneath the bed too. Picture frames full of dust. Fans dusty and not cleaned. Skirting boards dirty. Cobwebs everywhere. Fake plant filthy. Drawers not cleaned. Smoke detector in the living/kitchen area filthy with what appears to be a piece of old chewing gum stuck in it. Extractor fan full of cobwebs. The pictures explain themselves. The only saving grace was the location which was fairly central so we spent the evening out of the apartment. There is NO excuse for such a dirty apartment. It was clear it had not been properly cleaned for months. If I hadn't arrived so late I would have walked out and found somewhere else.

We stayed at Adventurers Rest: Top quality apartment, great location, very clean and well-equipped and stylishly decorated. Ideal for me and my son on an overnight trip for a York Uni open day. Very good info, check-in easy, wet. Early parking at Q-Park Shambles (book in advance it gets full up) - in all, very good thank you!

Great stay here with teenagers in the Yorvik suite, location couldn't be better. Some small issues with heating and fusebox but when we contacted the managers they came immediately to fix. Really comfy bed and handy kitchen for breakfasts. Great bars and cafés on the doorstep and close to all attractions

I just wanted to start by saying that the apartment is in an amazing location and it appeared to be a great place to stay upon arrival. I have never felt as tho I have needed to complain after a break however, the cleanliness and functionality of the ‘luxury apartment’ was not up to scratch.||My son cut his foot open on glass in the living room when walking past the T.V we subsequently began to search for more glass and upon moving the sofas we found several more pieces along with a lot of waste wrappers and general dirt from previous guests. My daughter then found a bra left behind under her bed and some ear phones on the bedside table. ||Further Findings||Kitchen|Chairs around the table are all broken or loose |Fridge has broken parts and very dirty|Cutlery dirty |Plates dirty|Oven very dirty and grill does not work|Sharp metal protruding around the steps leading to the exit door, covered in duct tape||Bedrooms |Staining on bedding|Belongings from previous guests left under beds and on side tables||Bathrooms |Mould and loose fixtures in all||Living area |debris accumulated over several months under cushions around the fold out bed|Sweet wrappers and dirt under all sofas |Broken glass around the tv and under sofas||Balcony |Broken glass on the floor|Windows dirty|Broken or loose fixings on patio furniture ||To summaries I feel that the overall standard of the property is far from luxury, I am not the kind of guest who will intentionally go out of my way in order to find faults but there were so many problems that it was impossible to miss them.|We should be able to walk around an apartment bare foot without risk of getting glass in our feet and the apartment should be fit for purpose in terms of having working appliances.||After taking the issues up with the management they offered me a £50 refund which I declined. They then offered me a discounted future stay which was worth £38 if I was to spend another £500 with their company, which I refuse to do.

Lovely place to stay. We stayed at Clifford street, very close to the city centre.
Didn’t have a great night sleep, the mattresses could do with some attention. Felt every spring, so sleep was very disturbed. But location to the city centre was fantastic, 5 minute walk to everything!
