Absolutely beautiful room! Couldn’t have asked for a better view of Rochester! The service was top notch. Thank you Jeff (or Geoff). Really lovely atmosphere. A beautiful hotel drowned in history with a lovely Singaporean twist! Couldn’t recommend more!

We loved our stay at Gordon House. Very central location, 5 minutes' walk from the station. The room was very big, warm and clean, as was the bathroom. It's an old hotel, and it shows in places, but for us, that adds to the charm. Staff were friendly and helpful, however, the front desk is not manned in the mornings, so if you need anything, you need to ring for attention. The shower took a moment to work out, but worked in the end, although the temperature couldn't be adjusted beyond warm(ish).

Stayed there last night with the wife, as our son was graduating university in Rochester Cathedral today.|Old fashioned, but has a warmth and a charm that made you feel at home immediately on arrival. Nice, if " old school " room, comfortable and with a nice big TV on the wall, extremely clean. A very quiet hotel, extremely peaceful despite being on Rochester's High Street.|Great location, surrounded by shops, restaurants, takeaways and pubs, and almost directly opposite Rochester Catherdral itself.|The receptionists were extremely helpful, especially the day receptionist who allowed us to leave our bags behind her desk after we had checked out and went off to the graduation ceremony. This lady, ( I think her name way May ) also fixed the zip on one af my bags when the zip broke and I couldn't zip it up! She managed to fix it with a pin and get it back on it's thread, saving me a trip home without the worry of my bag spilling out it's contents on the train.|A very nice hotel, great value for money, and perfect for anyone visiting Rochester for either work or pleasure.| I would thoroughly recommend the Gordon House Hotel, a very nice place to stay.

The food served at the meal for The Rochester Pickwick Club was excellent.
The service from the waiter was also very good, although he was rushed off his feet.
What did not impress me was to be charged £14.70 for a small glass of Red Wine and a pint of Lager Shandy. This, was extortionate. I queried this charge with the barmaid, who confirmed the price. Needless to say, I made the drinks last all evening. Will I visit again? Probably not, but happy to discuss with hotel management via RPC

A quaint hotel with lots of character. Have to say it's the quietest hotel I've ever stayed in. You get a fantastic welcome from Vicky and are instantly made to feel at home. She's a great member of staff and a credit to your business. The room I'm in is dated but in an endearing way. First time staying here and already booked the next 2 weeks as I'm working away down here.

As a college professor relocating from the USA to Rochester, Kent, I had the pleasure of staying at The Gordon House Hotel for a week while waiting for my housing to be sorted, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The hotel truly felt like a second home. The entire staff was exceptionally welcoming, but Victoria stood out with her incredible customer service. Her warm hospitality and attentiveness made my stay so much more comfortable—she went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect.||The hotel itself exudes charm, from the lovely garden to the cozy shared lounge, along with a fantastic restaurant and bar. If you're planning a trip to Rochester, this hotel is my top recommendation. The only minor inconvenience was adjusting to the toilet flush, and a brief internet outage (due to fiber installation in the neighborhood), but those are trivial compared to the overall outstanding experience.||A heartfelt thank you to The Gordon House Hotel, and a special thanks to Victoria for making my stay unforgettable!

The ladies at the reception were very friendly and helpful. They were welcoming and eager to assist wherever they could.
Another positive is the parking situation behind the hotel. The lanes have a good size and there was always something available during our three day stay. The charge is 10Ā£ per day.

After checking in we were confronted with a worn down and neglected room.
Under budget one shouldn’t have high expectations concerning decor and atmosphere in general. Walking into this budget room everything seems to at first glance have ,an old charm’ to it but if one takes a closer look the defects became very apparent. The room is in desperate need of a renovation. The paint on the windows is chipped and in general dirty -(possibly mold?). Everything in the room is a combination of outdated and/or damaged (eg: missing veneer on cupboard, rusty metal basket in shower, messy paint jobs, flimsy signs).
Outside of the room the hotel also isn’t very inviting. The pattern of fatigue and neglect can be found when walking in and out of the hotel. The back yard where the cars are parked is a dumping area as well as the hallway leading into the building.

The room offers a kettle with coffee/tea and a TV. A hair dryer can be found mounted to the wall in the bathroom. It is however a joke rather than a proper device to dry one’s hair without spending a significant amount of time occupying the bathroom.
The hotel offers very slow wifi.

The location of the hotel is very central. This is probably the main justification the owners had for the higher price charged. There are many shops and restaurants as well as historical places right outside the door. But also many empty spaces. Several of the shops are estate agencies. Far too many for a shopping street. Many of the shops only open around 10 if at all. Some are closed on a Monday. For some places this info cannot be found online so one is forced to be figure this out on site. This was the main reason we booked having everything in close proximity. However we were disappointed with the above mentioned so this adds to the fact that we will not be returning to this hotel.

This review is based on the fact that at the time of booking there were several other hotels in the surrounding area with better offers. We booked this hotel based on the fact that we would be staying central and comfortably. We were disappointed on both points.

I had the absolute pleasure of staying at The Gordon House Hotel for a week while waiting for my housing situation to be sorted, and I can’t recommend it highly enough! As a teacher from the USA, relocating to Rochester, Kent, this hotel felt like a home away from home. The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming, but Victoria deserves a special mention—her customer service skills are top-notch! She greeted me with such kindness and went out of her way to make sure I had everything I needed.||The hotel itself is charming, with a beautiful garden, cozy shared lounge, and a great restaurant and bar. If you're planning a trip to Rochester, this is my #1 recommendation. The only small hiccup is getting used to the toilet flush, but that's nothing compared to the outstanding experience.
