We got married here in August 2024 and were assisted by Celeste. Having been to many wedding fairs and seen lots of venues, none of them were quite as perfect as Gorse Hill. The mansion house and grounds are beautiful. We were lucky to have a warm sunny day and the venue really did come alive, with opportunity for our guests to catch some sunshine and a few drinks.

Our wedding day ran perfectly, on time with no faults (that we knew about!). We felt in such good hands with the team here and would highly recommend this venue.

We opted for a wedding package which included a three course meal, and our guests were very complimentary of the food. The venue also has great connections with us meeting our florist and pianist at the venue during a wedding fair, both of which were great additions to our day.

I want to take a moment to truly thank Celeste for all her help from our very first meeting to after the wedding, she was always available when we needed her for questions and support. We were also helped by Belinda and Jennifer who were also amazing.

Many of our guests stayed at the venue the night prior, and enjoyed their stay. It's a nice addition to be able to stay on the grounds for a standard cost, compared to other venues we looked at which were much pricier.

We will be sure to come back and visit the venue over the coming years for afternoon teas and to wander the grounds.

Gorse Hill is a hidden gem on the outskirts of Woking, offering a taste of elegance in a tranquil woodland setting. Once a private residence, this 4-star hotel certainly lives up to the grand expectations set by its website, with an impressive entrance and ample parking that immediately sets the tone for your stay. Nestled in greenery, the location itself is a breath of fresh air.||Upon arrival, check-in was swift and seamless. The staff were not only professional but genuinely warm and attentive, making every guest feel special from the moment they walked in. Throughout my stay, the team consistently delivered top-tier service, creating a welcoming atmosphere that added to the charm of the property.||However, when it comes to accommodation—the core of any hotel experience—Gorse Hill unfortunately fell short. It seems that while the hotel excels in hospitality and event management, the same focus has not been extended to the rooms. As with many properties that position themselves primarily as event venues, it felt like the accommodation was an afterthought. A quick glance at the hotel’s website reveals that rooms rank fifth on their list of offerings, reinforcing this impression.||During my stay, the hotel was fully booked due to an event, leaving no opportunity for a room change despite my request. Sadly, my room showed clear signs of wear and neglect: from scratched doors to a malfunctioning bath and shower, topped off with dust, mold, and cobwebs. The room lacked the comfort and cleanliness one would expect, making it a space to spend the bare minimum time in.||While external noise wasn’t an issue, internal soundproofing was poor. I could clearly hear kitchen activity as early as 5 AM, which disrupted the peacefulness of the setting. To add to the inconvenience, hot water pressure in my room was almost non-existent, taking up to five minutes for a mere trickle to warm up—a problem not shared by the public-facing areas of the hotel.||In summary, Gorse Hill is an ideal venue if you're attending a function or event, where the service and surroundings will enhance your experience. But for a restful stay, the accommodation leaves much to be desired. I’d suggest exploring other options before committing to an overnight visit.

We attended a black tie private event here and stayed in their deluxe double room.
The room was nicely furnished, however the bed was two smaller beds pushed together with a cover over the top.
Breakfast was very tasty. Nice mix of continental/self-serve and cooked options.

We stayed one night in a standard double room in the newer block.

We paid £135 for two people for bed and breakfast and overall, we got what we paid for.

The room (47) was a little tired, but clean and everything in working order (shower was poor). If we were to stay again, we’d prefer the main house.

The main building and grounds are stunning and certainly what make the stay.

The ladies on reception were helpful, cheerful and ready to help. We had a drink in the bar which was also lovely.

Breakfast was a standard hotel breakfast - fine, nothing innovative but we left full.

Definitely room for improvements on allergy awareness and Gluten Free options that are also vegan.

We held our wedding reception (Walima) in June 2024 in the Garden Suite at Gorse Hill Hotel and it was one of the best decisions made. We initially visited it at the start of our search and months later having not found any other venue which ticked all the boxes we came back and confirmed our booking. It has everything you need from the gardens (which in the Spring just looked stunning though we were blessed to have good weather on the day), bridal getting ready suite and overnight stays, an outdoor marquee area and the venue itself (both the hotel and the Garden Suite) are very elegant. My point of contact was Belinda who was incredibly helpful and responsive throughout the process. She went out of her way to answer all queries promptly and made the process as smooth as possible for us. Belinda had even requested the in-house head chef who very kindly put together a South Asian style menu for us if we wanted to get the catering in-house. We had gone for dry hire and they were very flexible with our chosen caterers and decorators. If you get the right decorators they can help to create a perfect setup and stage for photos in the main ballroom along with the banqueting tablets and with the view out into the garden all the way around the room it just looks spectacular. All the guests had a great time and were full of praises. I cannot recommend the venue highly enough!

I love this place because I had my wedding reception here 2 years ago. We returned on our anniversary this year ,just for the night.

Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful, food is excellent , and to acknowledge our anniversary the hotel put a plate of chocolate dipped strawberries in our room,and provided us with champagne at dinner.

The location is great, you are not far from Woking, but you feel in the middle of peace and quiet.

Definitely recommended.

Really beautiful grounds and location. Staff can't do enough for you. 5 star location. Sorry 1 star rooms. Very clean but more basic that a premier inn and at nearly 500 for two nights with no breakfast or dinner included is so far overpriced?
Rooms have little to no drawer space. No fridge. Little to no choice of coffee or tea selection and not even a basic pack of biscuits. No fresh water.
If you are not worried about the basics of the accommodation then fully recommend for location and staff. But sorry not at those exorbitant prices for absolutely no room facilities.
Lipstick on cups from previous customers. Perhaps a bit busy cleaning rooms.
Although I would definitely want to come back on a regular basis I am hesitant over the high priced aspect. I booked this as a high quality stay. Absolutely a wonderful place for weddings and receptions with gorgeous garden and location aspects. But please management upgrade your room facilities to the same high standard the price suggests and for the price we paid would have expected a lot better. I'm sure you will take notice of reviews and hope mine has been as fair as possible

Can not fault the staff they deserve 6 stars. Room still poor. But much happier now

Unfortunately the hotel has made no offer of refund for service not provided. It appears they will do anything to keep hold of the overpayment of £230 for food not provided.
Based on above I leave it to you to decide the integrity of the place
