We had a great week in The Cartshed at Grindon Farm. The owners were friendly and welcoming and the accommodation was ideal for us all; well equipped, warm and comfortable, and well set out. The sunrise/sunset moments were wonderful, and the view in general (especially the sheep!) was just what was needed for a relaxing week away from a busy life. Lovely pubs close by for really good food, and interesting places to visit - Vindolanda, The Sill, Hadrian's Wall and the Sycamore Gap, of course, which was sad to see, but hopeful insomuch as it's growing again. Despite a generally cloudy week, we even managed to glimpse the amazing starry sky once or twice. We would highly recommend the cottages at Grindon Farm, and would definitely book again if we were planning to visit this beautiful area of England again .

We had the most wonderful stay at the Grindon Cartshed. We enjoyed the breathtaking view of the rolling hills with the sheep and cows in the fields. Our hosts, Jackie and Dave, were so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The cottage is a charming, converted cart shed and is spacious with a cozy feel, nicely decorated, and clean. The bed was quite comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. The setting is wonderful — very peaceful and remote — although we also found the location perfect for day trips to the Housesteads Roman Fort, Hadrian’s Wall, Bamburgh Castle, Lindisfarne and Holy Island. The town of Hexham is an easy drive for the Waitrose supermarket as well as other local shops. Would love to stay here again someday!

We rented The Cart Shed at Grindon Farm. What an amazing place. This delightful self catering “home from home” is situated in a remote rural area of the Northumberland National Park. Located close to Hadrians Wall and with easy access to Hexham and Corbridge. The clear night skies are amazing. The owners are so friendly and helpful.

Well equipped. Three rooms all with en-suite. Lounge dining area have stunning views.

A beautifully situated property with glorious views over rough pasture towards the horizon. The cottage is ideally situated for Hadrian’s Wall. Housesteads, Vindolanda, Chesters and the Roman Army Museum are all a short drive away. The Northumbria National Park Visitor Centre at The Sill is only a short distance away too. Supermarkets at Haydon Bridge or Hexham are obviously a drive away but that’s not a problem if you are organised.||||Grindon Cartshed and its fittings were exactly what we’d expect to find in a property in this price bracket – in other words comfortable, rather than luxurious, but everything we needed was provided. Everything was clean and tidy when we arrived. The bedrooms were spacious, well lit and clean. The beds were comfortable and the bed linen was excellent each of the three double bedrooms had an en suite and there was plenty of hot water for the showers. The kitchen had all the expected facilities and we cooked a couple of meals without any problems.||||The owner was very friendly and most attentive and visited as soon as we arrived to make sure there were no problems. She made loads of suggestions for where to eat and what to see.||||We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would be happy to book this property again.

Had a fabulous week staying at Grindon farm. We were a party of 6, aged from 86 to 17 and the property suited us all very well. It was well equipped, warm with underfloor heating and a log burner but the best thing about the property is the panoramic views across rolling Northumberland hills. If you don't feel like going out you can just sit and watch the weather. A real treat to stay in a location with no other buildings in sight. The owners were welcoming, friendly and very helpful. Hadrians wall is a 5 minute drive away with good walks in both directions. We also walked along the nearby river paths, visited Kielder Forest and played golf in Hexham and Allendale.|Haydon Bridge is close by with a lovely river, cafe and good local amenities and a great fish and chip shop.|

Had a fantastic relaxing holiday at Cartshed, really is a get away from it all and chill cottage. The views are wonderful, beds are comfy and the owners really helpful (thanks Jackie, Dave and Emily). About a mile walk from Hadrian's Wall, 5 minutes drive to The Sill and 20 minutes from Haltwhistle, with a lovely open air swimming pool.
