Absolutely loved our holiday at Groves Dyke. The gardens and wood are a joy, with the daily visiting wildlife of birds, squirrels and the family of little mice in the garden wall. We were sad to leave Niall and his wonderful property, he couldnt have been a better host and made our stay wonderful. We enjoyed picking the apples and plums from the Orchard, and made some lovely crumbles from the fruit. Blueberry foraging in Groves Dyke private wood kept my porridge very tasty every morning. We were so sad to hear we couldnt return in 2023 as the house is changing to a private let, however there is a new addition being built so we may get back afterall.
Whitby and the surrounding area are beautiful, Sleight is perfectly situated for Goathland ( the tv show Heartbeat was filmed here, it was fun to see where the garage and pub are - we didnt see Greengrass and Alfred 😉 )
The Black Pearl Pirate ship was brilliant, sailing alongside Dolphins was a highlight of our sail off the shores. Highly recommended as we stayed out sailing far longer than the time slot of 25 mins and all for £5 per head. Nice friendly lot, those pirates are!
Runswick beach was agreat dog walking beach, with 'smugglers' caves to explore.
So now back to Groves Dyke - it is a little corner of heaven on earth - utter bliss!
We didnt want to leave!
