Definitely not a 5* resort or so family friendly for young children. |where do i begin, i originally booked an 8 person lodge back in july 2024, even though there would only be 4 of us going we wanted space and luxury as advertised, however in december 2024 i was contacted by hoseasons to say my accommodation had been âdoubleâ booked by gwel an mor, i found this suspicious as i had booked 5 months previously!! i just think they saw us a party of 4 not needing that lodge or space so we were then transferred to a 6 person signature lodge which i was happy with and hoseasons gave us a compensation voucher which i happily accepted. |we arrived on the saturday june 14th and in all honestly we struggled to find the site, the directions to the place were clear but considering its a 5* resort there is no clear sign or welcoming entrance showing you, youâre here! so we actually drove past. the directions we were sent said look for the low white wall and palm tree lined drive and you are here, well neither of that is at the entrance, itâs a brown rock wall and drive with no palm trees whatsoever ever, in face it advertises the farm more. the sign for Gwel An Mor is just an advertisement for buying a holiday home. |we arrived a few hours early and reception called us at 1 to let us know our accommodation was ready which we were happy as we got in a few hours earlier. |on the surface the lodge was lovely, very spacious and welcoming. we loved the lodge all week but just little things let it down (not enough to complain as luckily there was a hoover in the cupboard so hoovered myself)floors still had crumbs and cobwebs were in the corners. green moss all on the decking so could do with a jet wash to freshen up. also we noticed we only had one sun lounger and all others had 2, so we called reception on the monday and asked for another lounger so both adults could use one, we were told not a problem and maintenance would bring one, we never received another one by the time we left. |The resort itself was sold as 5* and family friendly, but to me i donât understand how it can be when there is no family entertainment just a small outsidepark area for kids. the pool|was freezing and with 2 small kids not ideal i would say more of a leisure/gym based pool. base camp for the kids was ÂŁ30 for a 4 day pass for the 2 kids and i would say again fairly tired for 5* and i believe should be included with your holiday |The restaurant advertised in the welcome pack as doing breakfast but it doesnât, we asked reception if breakfast was being served and we were told no the restaurant opens at 12. |the rooftop bar is just a shipping container with seats on top. which wasnât open the whole time we were here, there is no bar area to sit and chill at, so you need to order at the restaurant and sit outside or inside on a table. again iâve never been to a holiday park like this as it closed at 8pm so not a long time to really enjoy an evening out for drinks or food.|the reception area was dated as it showed bingo for the end of May even though weâre well into june! and i did find some staff just not very friendly or attentive but i found the hot tub/ maintenance workers friendly. |the âshopâ wasnât great either it didnât stock the basic necessities such as milk, and it isnât always manned so you needed to call a number to buy anything. i think a small shop with basics would be better suited near the restaurant or reception. |i just think overall what was advertised was a lot of promise of an exclusive resort and it wasnât. |Itâs not a 5* resort or so family friendly so if you are on the look out for a holiday park that has entertainment/ activities for kids and a bar area to enjoy i would say this isnât for you.But if you donât mind not having this things itâs a great place to stay as the signature lodges were lovely.
