The location alone makes this a special place to stay, as it's close to many stunning gardens, delightful gastropubs and charming little villages. But the B&B is wonderfully luxurious, with a huge comfortable bedroom and en-suite bath filled with homey touches. Sarah is a very pleasant hostess and very helpful to a guest with a small but deadly heavy suitcase. Off the main road with a short private driveway, there is the sense of being in the distant countryside, with only the occasional sheepsound to break the silence. My favorite gastropub, Three Chimneys, is a short drive away, and the Great House is even closer. Both offer fabulous meals. I had stayed here briefly in 1995 and my current four-night stay confirmed it remains an outstanding choice for a stay in the Garden of England.

We stayed for two nights recently. We arrived at tea time to find two homemade scones, with homemade jam and local cream, waiting in our room - and that was just one of the many lovely touches that made this b&b stand out. Sarah is a welcoming, delightful host who provides a brilliantly relaxed place to stay. The room was of a good size, with country-style decor, pretty mugs, bee-patterned glasses and a really good bathroom (baths better than showers due to the farm being remote and having poor water pressure). Breakfast was sublime, including all sorts of extras that could be ordered the night before. The room had a wide selection of books and maps and info about local eateries etc. We loved staying here and are intending on returning - if only for more of Sarah's delicious homemade jams and pickles!

I stayed for three nights and absolutely loved it here, there are so many unique things to enjoy. Firstly, the beauty of the building and its surroundings - the house is so charming and I loved staying in a traditional type of building that's associated with Kent, I hadn't heard of oast houses before I booked. There is so much attention to detail in the furnishings, I especially liked the little oast-shaped jugs and wooden animals sitting on windowsills and other places! It really couldn't be prettier. The room (Fuggle) was very comfortable and a good size with fast and reliable wifi, and the breakfast room was a delight to sit in, very rustic. Walking around the farm was a lovely experience, the area is so picturesque.||||Hallwood Farm also excels in food. It was lovely to arrive to find scones and home-made jam waiting for us in the room, and Sarah's elderflower cordial was a real treat (thank you so much for the top-up before we left, by the way!) There was also a very generous assortment of tea/coffee in the room and milk in the fridge. I loved the breakfasts, there was plenty of choice and everything was really tasty. Sarah also varied the home-made preserves from one day to the next, they were delicious and I ended up buying several jars before I left! And one of the reasons I chose Hallwood was that I liked the idea of staying on a blackcurrant farm, it was something different and the blackcurrant jam was delicious!||||Sarah is a very thoughtful and kind host. I also got to meet Doug the dog briefly a couple of times, although I didn't get the chance to go for a walk with him - maybe next time! ||||Thank you so much for a fantastic weekend break. I would love to visit again as there are so many other places in the region I'd like to explore.

Hallwood Farm deserves every one of its excellent reviews. Right from the first friendly welcome and delicious home made jam and scones in our room - disaster if youโ€™re planning to go out for dinner - our stay was well worth the long drive from home. || The house is beautiful, and our room (Fuggle, after the hop) was spacious and tastefully furnished and looked out over the garden. A fridge was provided containing cream for the scones, water and homemade elderflower cordial, and the hospitality tray had a wide selection of teas and other drinks. Lovely, superbly appointed bathroom.|| When you stay at a B&B, you expect a decent breakfast and Hallwoodโ€™s is up with the best - fruit, really nice yog, cereals, a lovely homemade sundae, followed by as full an English as you want, including kippers, juice, toast and coffee. Further choices were available to order from the other side of the menu. My companion remarked that last time he visited, he had had black pudding for breakfast, and lo, next day, there was not only black, but also white, pudding. This is service above and beyond and we could happily have stayed a lot longer than the one night.||Thank you, Sarah.

We spent a most enjoyable couple of days here. Recommended by another B&B owner in the area who could not accommodate us. Approached via a private lane so is a quiet location. Lovely oast house and a spacious comfortable room. On arrival found tray of scones, jam and cream. Lots of useful local information available plus Sarah's friendly help and knowledge. Also excellent breakfasts to start the day. Thoroughly recommended.

We stayed five nights at Hallwood Farm in June while exploring this part of Kent. It was the perfect base, run by the most gracious hosts. Sarah and Nigel made us feel very welcome and assisted in making our stay memorable. Sarah produces the most glorious breakfasts which include her own preserves. Her attention to detail is outstanding and our generously sized room was comfortable and cosy, with all we needed for the perfect Kent holiday. Loved our visit in every way -- thank you Sarah and Nigel.

First of all, Sarah is great to communicate with. I contact lodgings directly and have questions such as numbers of stairs to climb. Besides getting what I want, I've found that people who are happy to chat about specifics tend to be great hosts. Certainly true in this case! Sarah lavishes attention on things like cleanliness, helpfulness, and making one's stay as pleasant as possible. Her breakfasts include homemade jams and special offerings like kippers, unusual omellette combinations, and such. Also, we followed her directions for walking around the farm which was wonderful on an early spring day.

Stayed recently for 2 nights when attended a Perch Hill open day. Great location for visiting the gardens and countryside in Kent and Sussex. Plenty of good quality pubs, etc in easy 10 minutes driving distance for evening meals.||Sarah extremely welcoming and the rooms very spacious and well equipped. Quiet location too. Great farmhouse breakfast.
