Our dining experience was an interesting one, all in all a nice experience but probably won't be back. It felt like we were in an old people's home in smell, decor, atmosphere and clientele.

The menu felt a bit dated but classic food, was surprised we needed to order our dessert at the start of the meal. The starters we had were very good, I had the pork for my main and was very disappointed with it, incredibly sweet throughout and couldn't taste the meat let alone the crackling! It tainted my whole experience, this couldn't have been intended to be so sweet. My partners main was very good as were the desserts.

The service was mostly good but a moment has stuck with me as it was very unprofessional. When serving our pre-starter the waitress came out of the kitchen laughing right up to our table and struggled to stifle the laugh when introducing the course to us.. On her return to the kitchen we heard her burst out laughing and say to a colleague 'you can't do that to me' as she was also told to shush. We had the early sitting and were the only dinners in the dining room.

All in all it was expensive and based on service received and my terrible main I should have said something at the time. Furthermore I was charged Β£28 for 2 beers labelled as pints on my bill. They were not pints and I am pretty sure they were listed as only Β£7.75 on the menu I saw, again I should have challenged this at the time but did want to cause upset in the old people's home.

We stayed one night in the Fern Room. Well wow, just wow. Everything was simply perfect. Amazing room and view over the water, ever from the bath! |There was nothing amiss, great lighting in the bathroom, sockets where you need them, magnified make up mirror, comfortable (huge) bed. |We enjoyed a relaxing afternoon in the lounge by the fire before our fantastic dinner. Chatting to fellow guests, all of whom were returning so that says it all really. |We are not really foodies, typically we avoid anything that involves tweezers but this was a real treat. The dining room was intimate and well set out, not on top of your fellow diners. The food was amazing, cooked to perfection, the service was faultless. Great wine selection by the glass and charming sommelier. Wish we had booked for two nights as I struggled to decide on my choice of lamb (Hubby had venison) both delicious. Outstanding cheese board served by a very knowledgeable young lady Tabby, wonderful English cheeses accompanied by a superb glass of port, the perfect end to a perfect meal. |Breakfast - ditto, nice full English though we had to ask for proper toasting bread (not that sourdough that takes the roof off your mouth!) which duly arrived with no fuss.|Signed up for the mailing list and can't wait to return.

Recently had the pleasure of dining at Hambleton Hall with friends, and it was an experience to remember. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality, setting the tone for a delightful afternoon.
The setting is nothing short of stunning. The hall itself is elegantly furnished, blending classic charm with modern touches. The views of Rutland Water from the dining room are breathtaking, especially on a sunny day, making it the perfect backdrop for a leisurely lunch.
The service was impeccable and the menu showcased a range of seasonal dishes, all beautifully presented. Each course was a delight, with fresh, high-quality ingredients that truly celebrated local produce.

Would highly recommend.

We went here for Sunday lunch it was good. The meat was lovely and the puddings were truly delicious. Only could give it three stars though because one of their staff members was a bit rude to me on the way in. Not sure we will go back seemed a bit stuffy and outdated

Well not sure what else to say - we have been staying here for many many years and it remains what it is - one of the best country house hotels in the UK. ||The style is just right and no where really matches it - the rooms lovely with great furnishing and wonderful bedding. Bathrooms can be small - but all perfect.||The dining as the long held Michelin star attests is fab and wonderful personal wine advice from Dominique.||Needless to say all the staff are kind, thoughtful and professional. ||You will have your favorite room or rooms.||Of course there are things which one would do differently but that’s a personal matter! ||Top tips - check out is at 12noon so why not have breakfast in your dressing gown in your room - available until 10am rather than in the dining room which stops at 9.30am! ||Also check out the beautiful garden and walled veg garden. The heated outdoor pool is warm in the summer. Great local walks. ||Practicalities|Large bottle filtered water in the room|All bath room toiletries you would expect by Penhaligon|Shortbread biscuits |No tea or coffee making facilities in the room - but just order it!

This is one of the most beautiful places to stay. We came here to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary and could not have been better treated or spoiled by the wonderful staff. The hall is magnificent, and beautifully appointed and the rooms, including the dining room, are extremely comfortable and stylish.

A haven of peaceful calm, warmth (log fires), friendliness (caring staff), delicious food (excitingly different and tasty) & wine (just ask Dominic), and comfort (big sofas / great beds). Views of Rutland Water, and opportunities for long walks and 22+ mile cycle rides around the Water. Perfect.
