Accommodation and Facilities

The Hardwick Hotel offers indoor lodging suitable for various types of travellers. Reviews suggest that the rooms are often situated above the on-site pub, which is a common feature for traditional inns and bed & breakfast establishments in the region. This proximity might be noted by some guests, as mentioned in the reviews regarding the music playing until late hours (until 2am), which some found not too obtrusive. Despite this unique positioning, the feedback emphasizes that the rooms themselves are clean and comfortable, contrary to what the photographs might initially suggest. Amenities provided within the rooms typically include a refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and cutlery set, enabling guests to prepare simple meals. The hotel also provides a generous supply of tea, coffee, and milk sachets along with a kettle, ensuring guests have access to essentials for their stay.

Serving Guests

The hotel caters to guests seeking a straightforward night's accommodation, likely on a budget or looking for a family-friendly option. Its classification as a guest house and inn points towards providing personal, friendly service alongside basic but comfortable lodging. The presence of a functional pub and bar indicates that the establishment aims to offer more than just a place to sleep; it serves as a social hub within the village. The friendly staff noted in reviews further enhances its appeal for travellers wanting a warm welcome and assistance during their visit. The combination of reasonable pricing mentioned by one reviewer and the overall positive rating suggests it is a viable option for those prioritizing value for money without sacrificing essential comfort and service.

Reputation and Guest Feedback

The Hardwick Hotel maintains a positive reputation, reflected in its average rating of 4.1 out of 5 stars based on 103 reviews left on Google My Business. This indicates a consistent level of guest satisfaction over time. The feedback received provides valuable insights into the guest experience, allowing potential visitors to form a clearer picture. Several recurring themes emerge from the reviews. Firstly, the condition of the rooms is consistently praised – they are described as clean, comfortable, and better than their appearance in photographs. Secondly, the pub atmosphere is a significant aspect, with music events extending into the early morning hours, which some guests appreciate despite the noise level being deemed acceptable. Thirdly, the friendly staff and the quality of the beers available in the bar are frequently highlighted as positive attributes. The provision of kitchenette facilities (fridge, microwave, etc.) and ample refreshments (tea, coffee, milk) is also noted as a convenient and appreciated feature, catering well to guests who may wish to self-cater during their stay. The combination of these factors – comfortable rooms, good value, friendly service, and a lively pub setting – contributes to the hotel's solid rating and repeat business from satisfied guests.

Planning Your Stay

For individuals considering a stay at the Hardwick Hotel, the available information suggests it is well-suited for short breaks, visiting family, or exploring the Hartlepool area. Prospective guests should consider booking in advance, especially if planning to enjoy the pub's offerings or requiring accommodation during a busy period. The website (hardwickhotel.com) would be the primary source for checking room availability, pricing details, specific room descriptions, and booking procedures. It is advisable to review recent guest reviews directly on platforms like Google My Business to gauge the current state of the hotel and its services. The hotel's location, while potentially offering a quieter, village feel, should be considered in relation to desired activities – guests interested in nightlife or city attractions will need to plan travel accordingly, while those seeking a more restful environment should find the Hardwick Hotel suitable, provided the late-night pub music doesn't interfere personally.

We stayed for one night on freshers weekend, after moving our daughter into halls, as we live a 4 hour drive away.|We chose it because it was cheap, basically, as other hotels in/nearer the city were massively expensive and also pretty much booked up.|I mean, you get what you pay for!|The room was fine, big, clean, and we were impressed with the ‘kitchen’ facilities. Microwave, kettle, toaster and full sized fridge, with crockery, cutlery and plenty of tea, coffee, milk, sugar, butter etc.|But it’s definitely in need of some updating, being a very old building. It’s actually a pub, a very locals pub, in a pretty rough area from what we could gather. It was a Saturday night and the music was very loud, although we couldn’t hear it in our room to be fair. But we had no desire to stay down for a drink as the locals weren’t friendly and were definitely rough. Not that we’re snobs at all, I just wouldn’t have felt safe.|The bar staff were lovely though.|Don’t think we’d stay again but it did the job for one night.

Superb value, cheap room. Clean and tidy, large room, warm with plenty of tea and coffee provided. Room even included fridge and microwave. Bar downstairs is lively but fine with a good selection of beers. Overall, no complaints and would stay again if in the area in a heartbeat.

Pros:
Quite basic hotel, the room was clean and warm, fitted with microwawe, plates, knife, forks and spoon.
The young lady at the bar/reception was helpful and nice.
The bathroom was big, clean and warm.
Located in the heart of the village close to shops and stores
Free parking

Cons:
The bed sheets looked like hasn't been changed from prewious customers(see picture).
The carpets on the stairs and coridor were incredible dirty
Can be noisy because of the disco/music from ground floor but I was too tired to be kept awake by the music.

Overall, a good place to stay and would recomand.

Nice and clean. No hassles. Big room, two single beds, wardrobe, coffee table, chairs, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, cups and plates, bowls, cutlery, coffee, milk, sugar.
Downstairs, big bar, pool, duke box, TV screens, straight forward staff, friendly patrons, made to feel very welcome and included in the conversation and banter.
I was here during a very cold snowy winter, and I will definitely be staying here again in more clement weather. Durham isn't far and would like to have a look around sometime.
Good regular bus service right outside the front door.
Recommend to anyone wanting good wholesome cheap digs. Enjoy!!

Cheap and cheerful. You get what you pay for in life. Checked in and a lovely woman explained the rules etc then showed me to my room. Nice room, good bed, bathroom etc. Tv with fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and plenty of cutlery too. Supply of tea, coffee and milk. One bad bit was the hot radiators without being able to open a window. On the whole though, a good nights stay at a cheap price. Would deffo stay again
