David and Liz Bates have been running this good value B&B for over 14 years and excel in providing the quintessential British Bed and Breakfast experience. The house is well away from the main road and has a large garden with fields and horses beyond. There are lovely views from the breakfast room of the surrounding countryside. The double room has an en-suite shower room. You need to be prepared to share a bathroom if you occupy one of the other two, clean, well appointed and comfortable rooms. There is ample room for car parking and the Rudloe Arms hotel is just a short walk away if a fine dining experience is required. The breakfast is excellent, with a choice of continental or cooked full English, served by Liz and her husband, who are both hospitable and discreet. Hawkstone is ideally placed for a visit to Bath, Bristol or the Cotswolds. Thank you for reminding me how good British B&B's can be!

We were on a very long trip that day and too tired to go to Bath, so we stopped in several places including Corsham, but were unable to find a place to stay. After leaving Corsham we saw a sign for the Hawkstone and it proved to have a vacancy. The B&B was in a modern house, but the room and facilities were very comfortable and the hosts were very friendly and hospitable. Breakfast was excellent and we had dinner a short drive away. The Hawkstone was not expensive and provided a very pleasant stop on our journey.

Highly recommended. We stayed for 1 night 25-26th May 2013, the guest-book says it all. Despite being 6-7 miles outside of Bath, they have had visitors from all around the world and none could fault the b & b - neither could we.

The room was beautifully presented with an en-suite (keep in mind this is a b&b), our host had no issue with us checking-in very late (about 22:45 and after a party) and the food the next morning was delicious.

Check-out was supposed to be 10:00 but after mooching around following a gorgeous shower, we finally got around to it at about 10:50.

The breakfast room opens out onto the beautiful and well kept garden and being just outside Bath meant that we could get to and from in under 15 mins yet enjoy the clean and quiet of the countryside.
