A beautiful hotel where we had a delicious lunch to celebrate my mother’s 90th Birthday. Plenty of parking and easy level access, this was appreciated as 2 of the party were elderly with Mobility issues. We were seated in a lovely restaurant/ orangery and the food was excellent, we particularly loved the seafood starters, both the individual ones and the sharing platter.|All the staff we met were fantastic, professional, cheerful and kind. There was a Birthday card on the table addressed to my mum, a gesture she loved and it really added to her special day.

This was my third visit to the Headlam Hall and didn’t disappoint. From entering through the front door there is a sense of visiting somewhere homely rather than a chain style hotel. This family-run hotel has superb taste with great attention to detail, including the lighting of candles in the lounge and bar about 6.00 pm. So cosey and atmospheric. The food must be close to a Michelin star and was a highlight of our visit. For the price we paid our room was delightful, but felt perhaps a throw on the bed would have given the room a more sophisticated look. ||Nowhere is perfect so I must mention the nearby spa. We looked inside the previous time we stayed and weren’t that impressed. Small pool and not quite the atmosphere I would expect from such a good hotel. For me the design of this building doesn’t really complement the Jacobean part of the hotel. ||Apart from that it’s a great area of the country to discover with nearby Raby Castle, the Bowes Museum and the small town of Bernard Castle. Good walks along the River Tees as well.

What a lovely hotel! The building and furnishings are magnificent. The gronds too are wonderful. We visited to attend a private function and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Everything was perfectly done. Food was delicious and service professional. Now planning to come and have a relaxing weekend here!

What a beautiful hotel. So relaxing and comfortable. Food was absolutely outstanding. Both evening and breakfast. But most of all we particularly loved the staff. Who could not have been more pleasant and helpful in all areas of the hotel. Carl who looked after us in the bar and restaurant over our two nights was outstanding.

Excellent spa stay. Staff are very friendly and the food is delicious. Great value for money too. |The spa is small but adequate and cosy with no children about. Gorgeous outdoor hot tub and lots of loungers to snooze on. The addition of outdoor loungers with a blanket and heater is genius.|The main building is beautiful, with lots of period features. You truly feel like you're a Lord or Lady!|Perfect way to chill out and relax on my birthday. Thank you. |We can't wait to return.

A wonderful Sunday lunch!! The Jacobean property is a studding setting. The staff are quietly assiduous and the food delicious. The food was beautifully cooked and presented. Such a lovely treat and the surroundings are divine… even in the rain! Looking forward to my next visit!

We had a lovely dinner at Headlam Hall to celebrate a birthday. The food was superb with a good variety of choices, something for everyone. Everyone’s needs were catered for by excellent staff. Most of us stayed overnight and enjoyed a superb breakfast.|It was so good that we have rebooked for Sunday lunch in December 2024

We just stayed one night as a little treat to pamper ourselves in the spa and indulge in the restaurant. | We generally stay in this class of hotel, however we have never come across such a well decorated and finished hotel to such exacting detail, it was a feast to the eyes inside and out. We particularly enjoyed walking around the gardens and lawn. The food was excellent, chateaubriand was beautifully cooked and the fresh vegetables were indeed incredibly fresh. We genuinely couldn't fault our stay, the only negative was in the converted stables where we stayed the walls did seem to allow a significant ammount of noise through from other rooms. We will definitely be back especially as it's less than 10 miles away.
