What a super hotel. Great location, right by the river so you can go for nice walks down to the Quay. The room we got wasn't huge but suited us for a few nights. Lovely shower and comfy bed. Could do with a bit more storage space for clothes. Nespresso coffee machine. ||We had a road side room which was still very quiet. On reflection we'd have paid the extra for a river side view.||Service is great everywhere and so friendly. One day they forgot to clean the room and within 10 minutes someone came to room with bag of coffee, tea and biscuits and they gave us free coffees from the bar to take to the room whilst we waited.||The breakfasts are really delicious, all freshly cooked. Nice views over the river of course in breakfast room. Lovely croissants and pastries too.||Its a really nice pub too. Good range of St Austell beers of course and couple of nice Devon wines.||100% we would love to stay here again.||About 12 minute walk from St David's train station, straight road so couldn't be easier.

Nice dog friendly stay at The Mill on the Exe. Location was perfect for our needs. Hotel right next to the river Exe that offered a great walk for our morning dog walks. It’s only a 10/15 minute walk into the city centre too. Our room (2) was comfortable and the added bonus of a coffee machine. Fresh milk was a nice touch, rather than the usual UHT. Breakfast choices were good, full English as well as the Salmon and scrambled eggs were lovely. We also had a roast, beef and lamb at pub, which also offered good value. Staff were great, in particular, Paula, Jane and Chey, who looked after us superbly at breakfast. Nothing was to much trouble. Would recommend and we will be back I’m sure.

A lovely room and view of the River Exe. It was very comfortable and very quiet, with great touches, such as the fresh milk and the very comfortable bed. There was even Netflix on the TV. The staff were wonderful too and nothing was too much trouble. A fantastic stay. We would definitely recommend it.

We stayed at the Mill on the Exe for my wife's birthday and were very happy with everything about our stay. ||The staff are friendly, the beer good and the food ( we had the Sunday roast and breakfast the next day) was of a really high standard. ||We would definitely stay here again.

Usual high standard of comfort, courtesy and cuisine. Close to the centre (easy 10 min walk) but in a pleasant riverside location. Very nice conversion in the best tradition of St Austell Breweries. Could get very busy in the summer months though.

We stayed for one night, en route from Cornwall to London. We had booked a suite (Room 1), which was very spacious with a king plus a double sofa bed - perfect for our family of 4. There was also a large outdoor terrace with a partial river view (although not that private due to guests of the pub being able to access the adjacent garden area). I was quite impressed with the room, which had been newly renovated and was well appointed. The bathroom too was quite nice, with a powerful overhead shower, although oddly no handheld shower. The hotel is not quite in the centre of Exeter, but it does have a nice location on the river, and it is around a 10-15 min (uphill) walk to the town centre. There is a free parking lot dedicated for hotel guests, which is not that common in Exeter. We had breakfast before leaving the next morning and it was quite enjoyable.

It is important to note this is a hotel attached to a pub, and there is no reception desk or staff at the hotel itself, neither is there a phone in the room, so for anything you need including check-in/out, you need to walk across to the pub. I knew this beforehand so it was not an issue, but it is something to be aware of. Overall, we really enjoyed our overnight stop here, and I felt for the price I paid, the hotel exceeded expectations.

Rooms were very well presented and homely, very modern. The beds were comfy enough and the rooms were a large size. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wanted a nice hotel at a reasonable price within walking distance to most of what Exeter has to offer.

The biggest annoyance was the front door on the entrance to the hotel as people kept slamming it as hard as they could to shut it as the lock would catch, minor annoyance but does wake you up at night.
