We give Heavy Metal Munchies and Aggie high praise for the catering job at our daughter’s destination wedding at Dalnaglar Castle Estate this spring.
We initially reached out to Aggie based on the amazing pictures (she is a very talented food stylist) and the online reviews that we read. From the moment we connected with her we were very impressed with her responsiveness and thoroughness. It can be daunting to plan the menu for any wedding and even more so when planning from overseas. However, as soon as we started communicating with Aggie, we were certain that we were in great hands.
The first thing Aggie asked was if any of our guests had any dietary restrictions so that she could build a menu that would appeal to everyone. Among the 32 guests, we had quite a few dietary needs and concerns: vegan, vegetarians, pescatarians, gluten free, low sodium and more. Aggie put together amazing menu suggestions to accommodate each of our guests' individual needs. Additionally, Aggie introduced us to Scottish fare, a cuisine that we were not familiar with, making our wedding food experience even more special.
The amount of planning, recommending, and communicating was amazing. Every time we spoke with Aggie, through either email or WhatsApp (which was quite frequent over the course of months), we came away feeling confident and celebrated our decision to have Heavy Metal Munchies cater this special event.
When we finally got to Scotland and met Aggie and her team at the castle we became even more impressed. While they were working incredibly hard, long days in advance of the wedding, what we loved seeing most was how much they were enjoying their work. We found ourselves walking into the kitchen to converse with them and be in their company. We like happy, fun people!
Aggie and team provided two breakfasts, appetizers, dinner and dessert. All were amazingly beautiful, delicious, and accommodated our guests dietary needs.
Our breakfast menus included sweet and savory scones, homemade granola, bircher muesli, fresh brioche and banana bread, homemade compote, veggie quiche, sausage rolls.
Appetizers included vegan aubergine and chickpea bites, incredibly delicious sushi grade smoked trout haddock with dill soured cream, Talisker Whisky salmon gravadlax on a homemade cracker, homemade baguette, Scottish cheeses, oatcakes and homemade chutneys & homemade cheese and veggie straws.
Our wedding buffet included a selection of Scottish meat and vegan pies, butternut squash, spinach & sage risotto, chunky cheese & chilli fries, steamed greens, maple roasted carrots and gravy. Everyone raved about the delicious homemade kale chips.
Dessert included Scottish favorites like cranachan and tablet. The Millionaire's Shortbread Lemon & Italian Meringue Tart were both favorites.
All of the food items were very clearly labeled so those with the dietary concerns could safely manage their needs. Aggie even became familiar with the names on our guest list of those with dietary concerns so she could make sure they were taken care of.
It was a feast fit for royalty! Every guest felt catered to and was quite impressed with the food spread! Top notch!
These words do not fully express how pleased we were to have Heavy Metal Munchies cater our daughter’s Scottish castle wedding. The amount of planning, the attention to detail, the quality and beauty of the food, and the resulting joy made this one of our best service experiences ever. We wish we would have taken photos of all the food, but we were busy enjoying every bite. Rock on! 10 stars!
