The reason for the one star is because of the Owner, Nicky! Unfortunately, Nicky ruined our experience from the moment we spoke to her on the day we checked in. She is very rude and patronizing. We stayed in the Roe Deer lodge and during the check in process, my husband noticed the electric charger mounted on to the side of the lodge. We have an electric car so my husband asked if he could use the charger during our stay. Nicky informed my husband it would be a cost of £40, my husband was more than happy to pay this because anyone who has an electric car, will understand how convenient having a charger available makes life so much easier and stress free, especially when on holiday. We live 3 hours away from Henfields Country Retreat so our car was on low battery and owning an electric car we live our lives searching for electric charging points when travelling long distances, so to see the lodge had a charger available made our day! However, Nicky was not very helpful and seemed very resistant to us using it. My husband asked about payment and Nicky said she would need to see if the card machine was working, so my husband let her know that he had cash and asked if he needed to pay now or at the end of our stay. Nicky told us we could pay at the end of our stay. Nicky finished off the conversation saying "you do realise there are chargers at the supermarkets" we were gobsmacked at her comment! From a convenient point of view, charging our car during the night is so much better than sitting in a supermarket car park when on holiday! Why have an electric charger mounted on to the lodge if there is a massive problem with people wanting to use it? The first time meeting Nicky was not a pleasant one! Unfortunately, I had to see Nicky again during the check out process and that also wasn't a good experience with her. My husband had taken the used hot tub robes and towels up to the office like they request you do, about 15 minutes before we checked out. My husband parked outside the office and I got out of the car to see Nicky sat at the office desk, I greeted her with a smile and in a cheerful voice I said "morning" and gave her the lodge key. Nicky greeted me with an unfriendly stare and the first thing she said to me was "where are your hot tub robes and towels?" I informed her that was husband had already brought them up! She did then ask if we enjoyed our stay to which I replied "it was relaxing and quiet." I finally asked her if that was everything she needed from us and she replied "yes." We thought we didn't have to see or speak to Nicky again, until one hour into our journey home we got a phone call from her. She tells us we left without paying for the use of the charger. We did not like her tone towards us trying to make out it was our fault! We had totally forgotten about it and Nicky being the owner should be competent enough to run her business properly and should have asked us for the payment before we left. She informed us the piece of paper that had the note about us paying at the end had slipped under something. That is not our fault! We were always happy to pay up front during check in and maybe going forward they should start doing that to ensure this mistake they made doesn't happen again. We appreciate mistakes happen but its how they are dealt with that make the difference and Nicky did not deal with any of this in the right way because she clearly doesn't have any people skills! If we hadn't of met Nicky then it would have been by far the best holiday we have been on for a while and I would have given a five star review! I would like to point out that the member of staff who walked us to our lodge when we first arrived was so friendly and welcoming. She is so lovely and she gets a 5 star review from us. It is pointless having a gorgeous lodge and stunning views when the owner of the site does not make you feel welcome and is very unprofessional. We will not be returning!

Absolutely beautiful lodge. Lovely and light and bright. Very comfortable bed, great hot tub. Loved the fact that there are only 8 lodges here, so it was very peaceful. Also received a very nice welcome pack with some delicious cheese, wine and chutney. A wonderful stay, wish we could have stayed for longer

This place is a hidden gem!! We usually book a hot tub lodge each year and this was our first time at Henfields and we absolutely loved it. Our Lodge which was Rabbits Warren was beautiful and so clean. We have 0 complaints and can't wait to return.

Stayed in the Hedgehog lodge for a couple of days. Very relaxing retreat beautiful location. Only slight niggle was the road noise (obviously not much they can do about that) . Lodge was spacious, clean and well equipped. Bed was comfortable. The stand alone bath was lovely. Hot tub was amazing ! Perfect place to unwind and chill highly recommend.

We had an amazing 3 night stay at Henfields Country Retreat. We have had a few hot tub mini breaks over the years, and this one was definitely one of the nicest we’ve had if not the best. The lodge was spotless and very nicely decorated. The welcome hamper was a nice touch! They also give you robes and extra towels for use for the hot tub, robes came in very handy. The views were stunning, and we felt very welcomed. Only 15 mins from Bridgwater town which is very handy. Highly recommend!

Just home after a wonderful 4 day break in Hedgehog Lodge. Can't praise it enough - spotlessly clean, modern, chic and in such a peaceful,beautiful position; views are amazing. Huge, comfortable bed - linen beautifully laundered. Well equipped kitchen, spacious living room and so happy to have a walk in shower in the lovely bathroom. The staff were so friendly and helpful and we were delighted to be left a welcoming pack of goodies, a lovely surprise. Last but not least, the wonderful hot tub. We can't fault this fantastic venue!

Beds awful! Poor quality mattress in main bedroom very soft and spongy.
Twin beds in other room you could feel the springs and metal was poking out one of them where it had come through the cover of the mattress.
Shocking for an autograph lodge!
We left early so we could get some decent sleep!

First time staying here. And it was amazing. Lodge was beautiful. Very clean and tidy. Private and quiet. Very relaxing. Staff was lovely. Will definitely be back again. Thank you.
