This hotel is in a lovely setting and is very quiet and tranquil, exuding character and charm. The quality of the food is excellent, both for an evening meal and at breakfast. We were surprised to read some of the lower star reviews posted on here as our experience was very good and the hotel does not deserve many of these comments. The plumbing might be adequate rather than state-of-the-art, but this is to be expected in a building of this age and size. All facilities are very clean. We would have no hesitation in recommending the Heritage Grange as a place to stay when visiting the area.

I found this beautiful old Hotel by accident about 7 years ago. So this week I was on business in Bury St.Edmunds and much to my delight the Hotel was still going. So I booked it again 3 x nights in a suite and another night in a normal double room. The Hotel is in a fantastic location only about 15min drive from Bury Town centre, but yet in the middle of the country side, you get the best night sleep, so quiet. The Suite was fantastic, big, a little lounge, just lovely, with big bath room and power shower. The standard room, was perfectly adequate, only thing the bathroom really, really tiny, but absolutely workable. The only thing people might mind a bit, it's all a bit dated. To me, it's part of the charm of this beautiful igglty picklty Hotel. I wouldn't want it any other way. Its spotless clean, that's all I worry about. Had dinner there too, obviously, it was delicious, proper portions and absolutely reasonable priced. Same goes for the drinks on the bar, same prices as in an average pub, so no complaints at all.
As for the breakfast, I think it was the biggest full English I've ever had in any Hotel and all freshly made, absolutely amazing.
I also like to mention the staff there, so friendly and helpful, it was also thanks to them, that I have had such a lovely time there, they were brilliant.
Needless to say, next time I'm in Bury I will be staying there again, might even take my wife for a weekend trip there.
I can only recommend this place

Do not try to book anything here if you have a "Buy a Gift" Voucher.|I downloaded a voucher for an "Afternoon tea" at the grange. I called them to book a date. The person on the phone was quite rude and said a manager will call me back on Tuesday, she didn't even take my name. By late Tuesday afternoon I called them again to be advised the manager wasn't available and they do not do Afternoon Teas anymore. I asked what am I supposed to do then, I would like an Afternoon Tea and she said she would get the Manager to call me on the Wednesday - she did take my name this time. Well its Thursday now and still no call from the Manager and I have gone back to "Buy a Gift" and told them about this and they have arranged a credit voucher. I read in another review someone else had a "Buy a Gift" voucher and was treated quite rudely. Suffice to say I would not recommend this place for any voucher usage as they do not seem to like it.

Really really odd. Issues with the hot water (I didn't have any), not ideal when on a cycling holiday. Food was bizzare, service was good when you could find them, mostly they were absent though.

What a let down. Looks very grand from outside and entrance hall and stairway typically old world to match. Very disgruntled receptionist on arrival, quite rude when trying to find our bookings - found out we were only guests staying there so don’t know why such a drama! As slightly early and told we couldn’t book in until 3.00pm went away to a fantastic friendly pub nearby for great lunch. Arrived back nearer to 4.00pm to be greeted by a locked door - had to ring bell and wait, only to be met with same disgruntled woman. Before going up to our rooms we arranged to meet in bar later before going out to a nearby wedding. On coming down later we were informed bar did not open on Fridays although a sign of times was on the bar! Why did this woman not tell us this previously? Rooms were adequate for a one night stay, very tiny old televisions, only 1 dining chair to sit on, only 1 small flat pillow each for bed. Bathroom small but adequate - shower needs attention as probably leaking water to somewhere, tiles broken leaving a hole in bottom corner. Dubious about opening window as above some type of pipe vents emitting steam into back yard. Lucky small old fans were provided as very hot in room. Thought breakfast was included but was told payable. If had known cost would have returned to pub for a better choice and value. Again lady taking order not very friendly, at least they had decaf tea and soya milk. You didn’t get a welcoming vibe anywhere. Not good value. Pleased to leave this hotel for long journeys back home. Not particularly recommended and certainly overpriced. A Premier Inn much more pleasant and better value that this place!

Very disappointed with the quality of the room for the price. The bedside lights didn't work no note to say so. The bathroom very cramped and out dated. The bath was high . The bed was very squeaky every time I moved it made a noise.

The Rioja wine we chose was terrible and charged at £36 even more than 100% of the buying price. Sort of quality the Spanish would add water to it.

The staff were not particularly friendly. First hotel I have stayed at in all my travels over the world where a holding fee of £20 was taken.

The location was really good very peaceful in pretty gardens.

The food was good.

Terrible experience with rude manager. Well looked at the pictures and they say never judge a book by its cover. Well that sentiment can go the other way also ||||Room was filthy with an added window just in case your stay is that bad you can jump out and end it all! ||||Hair and stains on the bed. Bed was half collapsed and the best of it all is yet to come.||||Booked on Hotels.com and gave a 20£ deposit which I am yet to get back. So not only is the place disgusting but they are thieves also. Don’t stay here don’t do it to yourself. My client held a function here few years ago and when I told them I had stayed there they laughed and asked why ever would I stay here! Still trying to work that out myself.||||Refused to eat there. Greene King pub is just down the way that was a lot better and cleaner also. ||||Pictures of the room. Picture of the care they take of their hotel with just painting pipes and not boxing them in. You can tell they are doing it all on the cheap. Felt cheap, I was treated cheaply and the best of it was they stole from me also!
