I find it very bizarre how a GP can triage my “Ask my GP” request as routine and ask me to wait 5-6 WEEKS, Yes 5-6 WEEKS. Yet not send me some advice on how to deal with my problem? This surgery is shocking, Ive had an urgent referral sent through from the opticians over 2 weeks ago and they are still sat on it doing nothing. I do wonder what on earth they do actually do for the residents of the area that are registered with them. They recently told my partner over the phone to take some more pain relief, two days later admitted to hospital with UROSEPSIS! Such a joke of a surgery.

A tragedy in Three Acts.

askmyGP : What do you require?

Me: an appointment.

askmyGP: What for?

ME:I would like an over 65's health check.

askmyGP: What is the problem?

ME: I would like my blood pressure checked, blood samples check for cholesterol and so on.

askmyGP: Sorry, we don't do Health Checks. You will have to arrange one directly with your medical centre.

As a volunteer at Weston General I am entitled to a Health Check. Health Check booked.

After blood pressure, physical measurements taken, and so on.

Nurse: O.K. Well, we don't take bloods any more with this Health Check to you will need to book an appointment at your Medical Centre to have bloods taken to check for diabetes, cholesterol, etc. Make sure that you give the practitioner this information sheet with all your measurements on.

Me: Fine (Takes information.), thank you.

Phoning Highbridge Medical Centre.

Me: (After waiting, having started at 6th in line.) Oh, hello. I'd like to book an over 65's Health Check please.

Receptionist: I'm sorry we don't do these here. You'll have to book one through your local Pharmacy.

Me: Ah, well, I have just had a Health Check at a volunteer at WGH and the nurse told me I need to book to see a practitioner.\

Receptionist: No, sorry, you'll have to book a health check through your local pharmacy.

Me: Oh. So, do they take bloods then?

Receptionist: Oh, no. We do that here.

Me: Right, so can I book a blood test then?

Receptionist: Ah, no. You'll have to do that through askmyGP!

Me: AQAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!!!!!

CURTAINS.

I have been "on the books" of Highbridge Medical Centre for seventeen years and obviously in that time have seen many changes both in staff and systems.
But one of the things that has been a constant is the dedication and commitment of everyone I have ever come into contact with to care for me with empathy and professionalism.
As I have aged my need of help has increased but I have never be made to feel a burden.
A full and well deserved FIVE STARS to the whole team.

Dr. Told to book blood test at reception. Very courteous and professional. The same can not be said about reception staff, not friendly and could not give a date. To busy, did not even bother to check in the system. Thank you for nothing.

used the my GP service, waste of time as whoever triaged my symptoms got it wrong more than once. Needed to chase up and then go into the surgery to speak to receptionist. This system doesn't work. Leaves patients vulnerable

They take actually being able to communicate with a person to a whole new level of difficulty! I don’t even want an appointment with them, just a referral to a known specialist for a known procedure, but no, apparently jumping through hoops is a requirement!

Typically, it takes up to 48 hours for an NHS prescription to be ready to be collected, but this can vary from one practice to another. If you have ordered a repeat prescription via the NHS app or through your NHS GP, then allow 2-3 working days for it to be sent to the pharmacy of your choice.

****Highbridge Medical Centre are currently taking SEVEN days to dispense prescriptions. This is absolutely unacceptable from an NHS provider.

The reviews for this practice on here speak volumes about the seemingly uncaring, dysfunctional, beaurocratic shambles Highbridge residents are faced with at a time of need.

Something needs to be done.

But she couldn't get there without wheelchair and my car and nurses go into her regularly but ironically doesn't qualify for home visit from doctor? where are these people trained? A disgrace terrible attitude.
