We had the best time for my boyfriend’s birthday at Hill of Oaks! We stayed in one of the cute woodland glamping pods which came with everything we needed and were immaculately clean. We also got a complimentary bottle of wine and birthday card 😊 The lake views were absolutely beautiful, it was such a convenient location close to Bowness on Windermere. The ferry service from Hill of oaks was a massive bonus and made it easy to get about if you didn’t fancy driving but wanted to go for a day trip. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We went paddle boarding from the campsite pier which was also lovely! All in all, we will 100% be back and would recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay on the lakes! Thank you so much for making my boyfriend’s birthday the best present he’s had (his words) ☺️

Beautiful view from the apartment, very comfortable. Some noise from upstairs, bit to be expected. ||Maintenance very helpful, lending us a pump for the kayak when ours was not working. ||Great welcome pack on arrival, with dog treats, wine, toiletries, tea and coffee etc. Would def recommend and will probably go back ourselves too.

My daughter and I visited on May '25. We stayed in a lakeside pod and had amazing views over the lake from our pod.|||| It was clean and had everything we needed to ensure a seamless, stressfree stay. ||||Upon arrival we found a welcome box with biscuits, tea, coffee etc inside along with a couple of mini bottles of wine and a cleaning pack (sponge, washing up liquid and bin bags)||||My daughter enjoyed the well equipped play area, which wasn't too far from the pod. ||||The pod is west facing and so the sunsets over the lake are stunning. I enjoyed sitting out on the deck with a coffee (or glass of wine) in the evenings, watching the sunset. ||||It was the perfect place to relax and unwind.

The perfect place if you want to spend time on lake Windermere. It was so easy to find a spot to launch our dinghy's and kayak. We felt very welcome even though there were expensive boats at the site. There was a place for everyone. It was quiet and secluded, away from the commercial docks and busy part of the lake, and only 3 miles to fell foot park, easily doable by rowing.

Perfect stay at hill of oaks in one of their glamping pods, the perfect size for 2 plus a dog with all the equipment needed for a meal in but lots of lovely local dog friendly pubs to eat at too. It felt secluded enough at the pod to feel isolated but during the day by the lake there were lots of people around which was a lovely atmosphere. Already planning our trip back!

We stayed in the apartments for 3 nights to celebrate my mother in law’s 80th birthday. |It was simply the best place we could have chosen. So close to the lake with stunning views. The apartments were very clean and very welcoming. The 3 kids and a toddler had a whale of a time. The play park was great and close by. |The staff were very friendly and helpful. We asked for a parasol and they went to find one and put it up exactly where we needed it. |A very happy family holiday. Definitely recommend this place. We will be back😁

What an amazing gem in the Lake District!
Spent 4 days here and I can say after 30 years of staying in the lakes this is the best!!
The staff are so welcoming and friendly and professional too! Jackie and her team run this place so well … nothing is too much trouble
Extremely dog friendly site too
The glamping pods are perfect! Self contained and cosy
I cannot praise this “gem” enough it’s what all camping sites should be like! Has a lovely cafe by the lake shore and security is also top grade with electronic key fobs for entry onto site
I personally like to say a big thank you to Jackie and her ground staff for an amazing memorable holiday!

Nice place to stay but the local staff could help with certain things like WiFi which is very important as most cellular networks don't work there. We stayed for about 5 days so I had to drive to Kendal to get a prepaid Vodafone SIM card as that is the only network that works proper there. If you plan on visiting please ask them before hand to have proper mattresses as the mattresses seemed to have outlived their life.
