The hotel is a 3 star just on the outskirts of the town centre so a great position with parking included. We had a family room which was roomy, well stocked with tea and coffee and a queen sized very comfortable bed. Bathroom was adequate with a great shower although decor was a bit tired and worn. The breakfast cereal and fruit / yoghurt was again adequate, but the cooked breakfast was first class...very tasty. Luke was very informative and helpful as were other staff members. As a 3 star hotel it is very good for the money so much so we have booked again for a future event.

I had a great stay, comfy bed, nice and quiet at night and ultimately a brilliant sleep. Check in service was all super simple and great location sat nice and centrally in Hitchin. The staff are all great, very professional and friendly, I felt like I was welcome and it made the stay perfect.

Bed was fine and breakfast was okay! Staff helpful. Stayed in an economy room for 90 pound per night.||My main issue was that the room was freezing - an oil filled radiator was not adequate for space. When reported I was told there was no issue with heating.

Was very happy considering the bad reviews , room clean , Bed comfy , breakfast good and staff very friendly. I Would stay again if needing a hotel in the area, didn’t give 5 stars as it is a bit rundown but that didn’t spoil our stay. Very handy having free parking

We stayed over as we had attended a funeral wake at the hotel that day and thought it would be a treat. Whilst the staff are attentive and helpful, the hotel is lacking. We arrived at noon - left our bag with reception - and thought we'd have a light lunch. There was only one choice of soup which I couldn't have as allergic to it. I ended up having a bread roll lunch. We tried to check into our room at 3pm and took our bag up to our room. It still hadn't been cleaned and remade from the previous occupants and hadn't by 4.30pm. In the end the hotel put us in a different room. We were staying because we wanted a rest in the afternoon and to get get changed etc, but none of this we could do as the room wasn't available. The hotel staff were very apologetic, but that didn't really help. Dinner in the evening was very basic, not at all like the gallery photographs on the website. My husband ordered the trout and we thought it would be a trout fillet but it was a slice cut from a large fish. I wanted the duck breast, but there wasn't any left so I had the steak. It was served on a wooden board. The steak tasted of cleaning chemicals. The waitress checked with the chef but they didn't use chemicals on the griddle so it was assumed it was from the residue of chemicals from the dishwasher. I didn't eat it and nothing was offered to replace it.|The room - a superior - was very basic and the shower was minuscule. I'm only a size 6 or 8 and I struggled. There was plenty of hot water but took a long time for the hot to run through. |The breakfast was basic and lacklustre. No muesli, only fruit n fibre or cornflakes. Bread was ready sliced, not a nice granary loaf. Poor quality sausage and the bacon and the eggs - fried or scrambled were dried up looking and we had an early breakfast. There was a little fresh fruit, a sliced orange and some melon squares. |It has beautiful surroundings and was clearly a splendid building.

What a let down. This place used to be a lovely hotel but is now in need of some TLC.
We booked a superior room and requested a ground floor room due to my wife having a hip problem.
We were put in a building away from the main hotel and the room was OK but the lock to the room didn't work. We were then moved to a smaller room ( No. 46) which we were told was the only one left without having to go up stairs. It was disgusting .
There was damp mouldy wood behind the toilet and black mould on the walls above the shower.
As for the breakfast , that was a shambles. The cooked breakfast was buffet style but on the 1st day it was cold and the next day it kept running out of food. They seemed incapable of filling it up continuously and only bought out one item at a time so you were continuously waiting to fill your plate. Tempers from several guest were being tested.
I will not recommend this hotel unfortunately which is a shame because the location is perfect

Excellent and helpful staff. Amazing value but reflects the tired look of the hotel. Appears there is a rolling refurb programne underway. Ate the burger on the dinner menu. Looked good and presented well but poor quality. Breakfast much better.

The venue was booked as a surprise afternoon tea for my birthday.
We sat in the conservatory, which is not as per advertised. A Christmas party/group surrounded our table, making it impossible to get the attention of the waiter or hear each other!
We were assured the party would be moving through to the venue and bear with for 30mins!
I was offered a complimentary drink as an apology, but sadly, this did not make up for a ruined experience.
One afternoon tea was taken off the bill, again this did not make up for the groups disappointment.
I cannot comment on the hotel or the rooms.
